Weekly Portland Trail Blazers player spotlight – Week 3

NWSB Editor Bryant Knox recaps the previous week’s star player for the Portland Trail Blazers. In Week 3, honors go to Mo Williams. In contests against the Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets, Mo Gotti averaged 15 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 61.5 percent. LaMarcus Aldridge is a close second choice for Player of the Week, but Williams finally broke onto the scene, which was a pleasant surprise for Rip City.

LaMarcus Aldridge alive and well, but can’t hold off Pistons

NWSB Insider and Portland Trail Blazers blogger Jon Irwin breaks down the Blazers vs Pistons matchup. ​​The Headline:​ despite a nagging back injury, LaMarcus Aldridge comes alive for Portland; unfortunately, it’s not enough to hold off the Pistons in this 101-108 loss. Also, the rookies show promise while the stars fade. The Blazers rolled with four bench players in this one, rookies Will Barton and Meyers Leonard were prominent.

Northwest 2012 NBA Draft Watch: Kentucky’s Terrence Jones

NWSB Insider and Northwest sports blogger Steve Lee tells us five teams that should draft Terrence Jones in this years upcomming draft. Of course number 1 on this list it the Portland Trail Blazers, as Jones is a native Oregonian, but other than Portland, Steve tells us that the Phoenix Suns would be a nice place for him to land as well. Complementing Marcin Gortat, Markieef Moris, and Jared Dudely in a big lineup. In Portland, Jones could run the wing with Nic Batum moving to shooting guard.

Northwest 2012 NBA Draft Watch – Gonzaga’s Rob Sacre

NWSB insider Steve Lee brings us an NBA draft preview piece today. Where will Gonzaga’s Rob Sacre land in this year’s 2012 NBA Draft? Steve lists 5 possible destinations, including the team closest to where he grew up and went to college, the Portland Trail Blazers. It seems like a bit of a stretch to see Sacre in a Detroit Pistons uniform for some reason and yet at the same time it makes a lot of sense.
