Weekly Portland Trail Blazers coaching analysis – Week 2

Robin Lopez

NWSB Editor Bryant Knox gives us his weekly analysis of Portland Trail Blazers head coach, Terry Stotts. This past week, the team went 2-1, losing to the Houston Rockets and defeating the Sacramento Kings twice. Throughout the week, Stotts did a good job of preaching defense behind the scenes. That said, he must find a way to get the team, including Robin Lopez and LaMarcus Aldridge, to defend the paint. Up and coming is a relatively easy schedule, but Wesley Matthew, Damian Lillard and crew have yet to play a close game…

Five Kings I would like to see in a Sonics uniform

Isaiah Thomas

Peter Edlund is getting excited about the potential of a return of the Seattle Supersonics to the great Northwest. The potential move of the Sacramento Kings would land a handful of exciting players in Seattle, including DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas, Chuck Hayes, Patrick Patterson and Marcus Thornton. Tyreke Evans is another solid candidate, but the combination of he and Cousins hasn’t led to success thus far.

Losing Kings record could land Seattle with number 1 pick

Cody Zeller Indiana

NWSB Insider and Seattle SuperSonics blogger Clinton Bell gives us his two choices for lottery picks the future Sonics should take a hard look at come July. Cody Zeller, and Nerlens Noel lead Clinton’s picks for much needed big man help on this Kings/Sonics roster. DeMarcus Cousins has the ability to be an All-Star for many years, but he needs a little help up front. Zeller has the offensive ability the Kings lack up front, while Noel is a defensive mastermind that will help on the low post.

Are we close to welcoming the NBA back to Seattle?

Sonics

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about the rumors of the Sacramento Kings being sold to Seattle. Though there were early reports coming from the daughter of NBA agent David Falk that the Kings were being sold to Seattle (which were quickly dismissed), Seattle having a basketball team in 2013 became more concrete when Adrian Wojnarowski, a reporter for Yahoo! Sports, tweeted that the two sides were very close to an agreement.

Bryant Knox previews the Portland Trail Blazers’ Dec. 23 matchup against the Sacramento Kings. The Blazers have already played the Kings twice in the season, but they’re preparing for a home-and-home series in which they will see the team from California’s capital twice in a row. The key matchup in this one is going to be between J.J. Hickson and whomever he is assigned. DeMarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans are out for the Kings.

Checking in on the future Seattle SuperSonics

Isaiah Thomas Sacramento Kings

NWSB Insider and Seattle SuperSonics blogger Clinton Bell gives us the first of his series “Checking in with the future Seattle SuperSonics” pieces. As their record shows, the Sacramento Kings aren’t anywhere close to being a contender yet, but they are just about where are Sonics were when they were stolen from us. A great core of exciting young players will have this team in position to contend when the changing of the guard happens in the Western Conference.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Sacramento Kings prediction and preview

LaMarcus Aldridge Blazers

Bryant Knox previews the Portland Trail Blazers Nov. 12 matchup against the Sacramento Kings. A game against Sacramento will either help revitalize a team that is looking for life to cling onto, or it will expose the Blazers as the worst team out West. Key matchup is between Wesley Matthews and Tyreke Evans, but the battle between centers J.J. Hickson and Chuck Hayes should be entertaining. DeMarcus Cousins is suspended, and LaMarcus Aldridge is looking to bounce back.
