NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Bruce Irvin’s suspension of four games for using banned substances. Seattle’s somewhat surprise of a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, reports have come out that he was suspended for using Adderall, a medication that has become all too familiar with the Seahawks. Last year, Richard Sherman (accused) and Brandon Browner was suspended for four games for using the substance, though Sherman fought his suspension and ended up winning.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson predicts what Seattle’s defensive line will look like in 2013. The Seahawks were one of the top defenses in the league last year. Allowing just 306.2 yards per game, 5.1 yards per play, 15.3 points per game, 103.1 rushing yards per game, and 203.1 passing yards per game, you’d think Seattle would have managed to get to the quarterback more often than not. But that wasn’t really the case.

He loves the secondary, but says addition of Antoine Winfield in free agency should secure the teams nickelback position. Richard Sherman & Brandon Browner are great, but more depth is needed for starters.

The Hawks now have the best group of pass rushing DE’s on the planet. Only 4 teams last year eclipsed the number of sacks (38) that these 4 guys did last year. Watch out San Francisco, the 49ers are going to be running for their lives both on and off the field next year.
NWSB insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens brings us his take on free agency signing today that involved the Hawks losing DT/DE Jason Jones, and gaining LEO / DE Cliff Avril from Detroit. Avril will fit in the Seahawks system as their new Leo nicely. Over the last three seasons Cliff has amassed 29 sacks in 49 games, a rate of 0.59 sacks per game. With Chris Clemons injury, there has been a big question mark at the Leo position.

Too much is being made of the Robert Griffin injury, as it’s not the only reason Seattle came out on top.
