NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Bruce Irvin’s suspension of four games for using banned substances. Seattle’s somewhat surprise of a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, reports have come out that he was suspended for using Adderall, a medication that has become all too familiar with the Seahawks. Last year, Richard Sherman (accused) and Brandon Browner was suspended for four games for using the substance, though Sherman fought his suspension and ended up winning.

A very early look at the Seahawks 2013-2014 D-line

chris clemons

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson predicts what Seattle’s defensive line will look like in 2013. The Seahawks were one of the top defenses in the league last year. Allowing just 306.2 yards per game, 5.1 yards per play, 15.3 points per game, 103.1 rushing yards per game, and 203.1 passing yards per game, you’d think Seattle would have managed to get to the quarterback more often than not. But that wasn’t really the case.

Draft predictions! Positions Seahawks need to address next week

Bobby Wagner

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens weighs in tonight on the state of the Hawks prior to the 2013 NFL draft. He weighs in with some draft predictions, his free draft preview, and explains what he thinks are the teams roster weaknesses. He loves the secondary, but says addition of Antoine Winfield in free agency should secure the teams nickelback position. Richard Sherman & Brandon Browner are great, but more depth is needed for starters.

Seattle Seahawks stockpile defensive ends via free agency

Michael Bennett Widescreen

NWSB insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens brings us his take on another free agency signing today that involved the Hawks bringing in yet another DE on the young free agency period, this time Michael Bennett. The Hawks now have the best group of pass rushing DE’s on the planet. Only 4 teams last year eclipsed the number of sacks (38) that these 4 guys did last year. Watch out San Francisco, the 49ers are going to be running for their lives both on and off the field next year.

Lions get Jones & Seahawks get Avril in a swap of free agents

Cliff Avril Widescreen

NWSB insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens brings us his take on free agency signing today that involved the Hawks losing DT/DE Jason Jones, and gaining LEO / DE Cliff Avril from Detroit. Avril will fit in the Seahawks system as their new Leo nicely. Over the last three seasons Cliff has amassed 29 sacks in 49 games, a rate of 0.59 sacks per game. With Chris Clemons injury, there has been a big question mark at the Leo position.

State of the Seahawks – 2013 NFL Draft and beyond

Pete Carroll and John Schneider

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about the state of the Seattle Seahawks. While the Seahawks could surely draft whatever players they think best and use all of their picks to give them the best chance at another surprise player, Seattle could potentially deal their picks to other teams for proper compensation. What route they decide to take we will not know until draft day. Chris looks at the John Clayton’s Seahawks podcast, with Russell Wilson and others.

Part 1 focuses on defensive end and offensive guard.

Seahawks vs. Falcons: What went wrong?

Seahawks vs. Falcons

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Bryan McFarlane gives you the reasons why the Seahawks were NOT able to handle the Falcons this past Sunday. He says Pete Carroll has a great thing going and the next few seasons are sure to be entertaining and very successful. But Sunday nobody stepped up in Chris Clemons absence. The Seattle pass rush was non-existant. Matt Ryan had to much time. Where was Bruce Irvin? Sigh…

Wildcard Playoffs: Seahawks MMQB, The comeback kids

Wilson vs. RG3

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens breaks down the Hawks’ comeback against the Washington Redskins. Going into the game, the only thing I feared was the Seahawks going into the game flat. I did expect them to make a comeback win; however, I didn’t expect it to be from 14 points down. Too much is being made of the Robert Griffin injury, as it’s not the only reason Seattle came out on top.

Postmark Special: Key strategies for Seahawks to take down Redskins

Pete Carroll & Russell Wilson

NWSB insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Phil Slater weighs in today with another post on the strategy and tactics that could help the Hawks take down the Washington Redskins in their 2013 NFC wild card playoff matchup. Hope you cast your ballots for the “Don’t Injure Each Other, or Bother to Look Like We’re Even Trying at All” bowl.
