NWSB Insider and Vancouver Grizzlies blogger Steve Lee brings us a fun story about the 1995 NBA Draft. Remember this guy? Big Country they called him. Bryant Reeves. With the recent rumours of Vancouver once again getting an NBA team, NWSB and Steve Lee decided to take this look back and at the same time, wish the big man a happy 39th birthday. Maybe the Aquilini’s can hire this guy as GM when they own the new franchise.
Vancouver hoops blogger Steve Lee tells us the Vancouver Grizzlies were not a good drafting team. From overweight country bumpkins to selfcentered malcontents the Grizzlies success rate on draft night was about 33%. Bryant Reeves, Antonio Daniels, Mike Bibby, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Steve Francis, Stromile Swift to name a few.
Teams over the years in the Northwest corner, on either side of the line have dished out their share of overpaid contracts. The Vancouver Grizzlies, Seattle Supersonics, Seattle Seahawks, Portland Trailblazers, Vancouver Canucks are all guilty. Bryant Reeves, Mark Messier, Carlos Silva, Shaun Alexander, Theo Ratliff, Jim McIlvaine have all gotten paid haven’t they?
