New NWSB Insider & Seattle Mariners blogger Jeff Budke weighs in on the M’s 2013 options in the outfield. Jeff is all in for Eric Thames. Thames only played in 40 games (the same number as Guti) for the M’s in 2013 after a midseason trade from Toronto, but he made his presence felt. Despite a .220 batting average, Thames showed some pop with a .439 slugging percentage. Mike Carp, Casper Wells, and Trayvon Robinson are in the mix too.
NWSB Insider Steve tells us that the Seattle Mariners should do everything to retract this letter and get ready for Opening Day. Most everyone who knows steve knows how much he loves the M’s and how much he stands up for the franchise, but even he admits this letter will leave egg all over the face of Mariners brass. He can fully understand their intent, but Chuck Armstrong and Howard Lincoln need to be quiet.
NWSB Managing Editor Q tells us that the Seattle Mariners yesterday sent the city of Seattle a letter. Chuck Armstrong and Howard Lincoln are opposed to the SODO development plans being put in place by business man Chris Hansen. It would bring scheduling, traffic and parking challenges that would likely require hundreds of millions of dollars to mitigate. OR would it take away money from your luxury boxes and gate revenues?
Clayton McCullough takes the reigns after John Schneider took an extended leave of absence in August, and will lead the Candians at the park in 2011.
