MLS Boxscore: Sounders 2 Earthquakes 1
It looked as if the Seattle Sounders Kasey Keller would go out with his last regular season game at Qwest Field with a loss in front of the 3rd largest MLS crowd ever, but the Sounders scored 2 late goals for a 2-1 win over San Jose.

Qwest Field, Seattle

Keller was the man of the match, as he made several stellar saves to keep the Earthquakes from scoring a few more goals.
The match was not only Keller’s last home one in the regular season, but also Fan Appreciation Night and Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
The Seattle win means they wrapped up 2nd place in the Western Conference and will host a 2nd-leg of a semifinal playoff series, against either Real Salt Lake or FC Dallas.
The Earthquakes quieted the boisterous Seattle crowd opening the scoring in the match on a breakaway for his 15th goal of the season.
Kasey Keller made some great saves, especially with a diving save in the 43rd minute, as the Sounders hit the locker room only down 1-0.
Keller started out right where he left off in the 2nd half making another stellar save in the 65th minute Seattle’s Samuel Ochoa Oregel knotted the score at 1-1 in the 81st minute getting a fantastic pass from Mauro Rosales, who had not played since injuring his knee way back in September.
In the 86th minute Rosales came up HUGE again keeping the ball alive in the San Jose area of the field and then Brad Evans made a solid pass to Fredy Montero, who chipped it past San Jose keeper Jon Busch to give the Sounders a 2-1 lead, which would stand.
After the match Montero stated, “It was a perfect assist from Lamar. I just went to shoot on goal and fortunate for me it went in the net and we got three points.
It wasn’t a pretty game or a good game for us, but we got three points and that’s the important thing.”
Seattle owner Joe Roth even stated after the match, during a post-match ceremony for Keller, “Who would have thought for his last home game we would ask him to win it by himself?”
The team gave Keller a pair of bronzed goalkeeper gloves, a motorcycle for him and an all-terrain vehicle for his wife and after the win the huge crowd chanted “Kasey Keller! Kasey Keller!”
What a way to go out, as he was simply great in the match and was why they won and also why they are a legit MLS title contender as the playoffs approach.
Next Up: Seattle has one more MLS match that will be played this Saturday on the road against Chivas USA.
Their next match though is facing Monterrey in the final match of the group stage in CONCACAF Champions League, which essentially does not mean anything.
The Sounders have already qualified for the knockout stage.
