Comunicaciones vs. Seattle Sounders
Estadio Cementos Progreso, Ciudad de Guatemala
Referee: García Orozco, Roberto
The Sounders only needed a point to advance and that is just want they got playing to a 2-2 draw against Comunicaciones in a match in Guatemala.
The Sounders have not only wrapped up Group D, but they are well on their way to a high playoff seed in the domestic league, as the MLS post-season approaches.
Man, the CONCACAF match in Guatemala was a soggy one and it looked as if the Sounders would be heading back north without a point.
However, Osvaldo Alonso was the hero, as he not only scored right before the half, but he scored the game-tying goal in the 90th minute.

Comunicaciones vs. Seattle Sounders Recap
With the rain crashing down and the rowdy home crowd about to score a win in their house Seattle silenced the crowd when Alonso and a cross redirected to him and he took advantage of that and drilled a bullet to the back of the net to secure the draw.
The Sounders were a little lucky to come away with a draw, as G Kasey Keller was a little sketchy and should have controlled a corner that led to the home team’s 2nd goal. Still, the offense of the Sounders was impressive out-shooting the hosts (26 to 14) and had more shots on target (12 to 8).
Next Up: Seattle will finish CONCACAF Champions League Group D on October 18th hosting Monterrey and their next MLS match is this Saturday facing the New England Revolution back east.
