Moments In Time: Supersonics
Over the decades we’ve seen some TALENT come out of Seattle Washington. Here’s the list of the best Seattle Supersonics basketball players.
Gary Payton
‘The Glove” has to be on the top of the list and during his time in Seattle he was arguably the best PG in the league. He could score, rebound, dish out the rock, and finished his career 3rd all time in steals.

He was a 9-time All Star, 2 time All First Team player, 5-time All Second team player, and made the All Defensive First team 9 times.
He was not only one of the best player, but also one of the best trash talkers. He led the Sonics to the 1996 finals, but lost to the Bulls and Michael Jordan.
Payton also won 2 gold medals for the USA in the Olympics.
Shawn Kemp
The “Reign Man” was a beast in the paint in his time in Seattle and was one of the best above the rim players in the 1990′s. He was always on the highlight reel and the Payton to Kemp combo was one of the best ever.
He was on the 1996 Sonics’ finals team and he was a 6-time NBA All Star and made the All NBA 2nd Team 3 times.

Jack Sikma
Sikma played for the Sonics for a decade and was one of the best all around players seattle ever had. He could score and rebound and was one of the best shooting centers of his time.
He was also one of the most popular Seattle players and in his career he was a 7-time All Star and was part of the 1979 Sonics NBA title squad.
Gus Williams
Williams’ style of play got him the nickname of the “Wizard” and he could score with the best of them and in the 1979 finals he averaged 29 ppg. He made the All Star team twice and was a 1982 All NBA First Team selection.
He along with G Dennis Johnson gave Seattle a killer backcourt in the last 70′s and early 80′s.
For his career he finished with a scoring average of a legit 17.1 ppg.
Lenny Wilkins
Have to put Wilkins on the list and even though he played for the Sonics for only 4 seasons he was the head coach when they won their only NBA title in 1979.
He was voted one of the best 50 players of all time and was a 9-time All Star, the NBA All-Star Game MVP in 1971, and has his number (#19) retired by the Sonics.
