They are 9-1 but nobody is talking much about this team right now. Their best win was against a Michigan team I like a lot in the ACC-Big Ten challenge but their lone loss was against TCU. ACC teams are not supposed to lose to the Horned Frogs, especially those that are finally supposed to be gaining their footing amidst a down swing for the conference.

Most ACC teams prefer a game with some flow but with coach Tony Bennett at the helm the Cavs are all about defense.

This season they have been especially stingy with their 48.5 points per game allowed ranking second in the nation. It is an impressive statistic but might be a bit of a mirage due to competition. When it comes to league play they are going to have to keep that up or score more.

The scoring more part might be tough because only senior power forward Mike Scott is a reliably consistent threat.

He sets the tone on both ends of the floor with his work ethic.

This is a weird week where teams from power conferences are visiting some of their little brothers. Seattle is an especially weird stop for the Cavs who are travelling cross country right before the holidays.

I guess they really wanted to check out the Space Needle and see the house that Shawn Kemp built.

Speaking of Kemp too bad his son doesn’t play for the Redhawks but he was smart and is suiting up for that other team in Washington, the Huskies.

For the Redhawks to have a chance they are going to need a solid game from forward Eric Wallace. He is their burliest post player and they will need him to lean on Scott and maybe get him into foul trouble.

There is a talent mismatch here but because of the Cavs style of play Seattle may be able to stay within touch for longer than expected.

Their lone saving grace this season was a close loss to Harvard. If they can have another game like that the Cavs could go down.

Q’s Score Prediction: Virginia 71 – Seattle 59
