Week 9 MVP’s
The Seattle Seahawks hung tough on Sunday but suffered a second half collapse on their way to a 23-13 loss in Dallas. The Hawks were victimized by three interceptions, one blocked field goal and a hot opposing running back in Week 9.
It was an OK all around effort that could have looked a whole lot better if the team was able to limit its mistakes.
As it was last week, the Offensive Game Ball was an easy choice and not unlike Week 8, the Defensive Game Ball was a little more difficult to dole out.
So here it goes – the Week 9 version off Dave B’s Seattle Seahawks Offensive & Defensive Game Balls.
RB Marshawn Lynch – This was an absolute no brainer.
Dallas came into the game as the league’s 4th ranked run defense – Lynch made them look average! Marshawn rumbled for a season-high 135 yards on 23 carries. He also reached the end zone for the fourth straight game – a 4 yards TD in the fourth quarter.
This is the type of stat-line that we all expected of Lynch and a type of effort that will act as an Offensive building block for this team going forward. If Lynch becomes a threat, Seattle’s passing game will become a whole lot more dangerous as well!
By a landslide, this week’s Offensive Game Ball goes to Marshawn Lynch who posted the third highest rushing total in the entire league in Week 9!
FS Earl Thomas – Thomas gets the defensive nod this week even though he didn’t stand out on Sunday. He led the team in tackles with eight and he anchored a secondary that has been banged up mightily this season.
The Seattle defense had no sacks, no interceptions and just one forced fumble on the afternoon but they did limit Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Miles Austin and Jason Witten.
Earl Thomas – you are the future of this defense and in Week 9 you are a long overdue recipient of a Defensive Game Ball!
