The Seattle Seahawks squandered a good opportunity to get to the .500 mark on Sunday with their 6-3 loss in Cleveland.

The offenses definitely were not on display – it was the defenses rose up and dominated the game.

Watching the game, it is apparent not only from a Hawks fan, but from the commentators and even casual viewers that the referees are most deserving of the credit for Cleveland’s win.

Seriously, there are absolutely no sour grapes here – the officiating was one-sided and frankly BRUTAL on the afternoon.

But I digress.

Obviously, the Offensive Game Ball for the Seahawks was a tough choice – nobody showed up on Sunday. The Defensive Game Ball was much easier to determine.

So, without further adieu, here is Dave B’s Seattle Seahawks Week 7 Offensive & Defensive Game Balls

Offense:

RB Leon Washington Washington was basically thrust into action with the surprise unavailability of Marshawn Lynch for Sunday’s game. Washington gained 39 yards on 7 carries – almost 5.5 yards per carry. He also had four catches for 10 yards. But in light of a brutal all around offensive effort, he gets the nod because of his work in the return game.

Washington averaged 20 yards on both kickoff and punt returns and had one touchdown called back because of a phantom block in the back call.

Washington’s return should have been the turning point in the game.

Red Bryant

Red gets the consolation prize. The NFL hat-trick

Defense:

MLB David HawthorneRed Bryant was close to taking the Game Ball away from Hawthorne with two, yes two blocked field goals. But Hawthorne gets the nod with 11 tackles (seven solo), one sack and one interception on the afternoon.

Hawthorne was the best player on the field for the Hawks hands down and gives the Hawks good reason for optimism going forward.

Red gets the consolation prize. The NFL hat-trick. 2 blocked FG’s and 1 head-butt ejection. NICE!

Hopefully, Week 8’s Game Balls are a little more exciting.

We all deserve a little more excitement!
