TMQB: Huge Seahawks win comes with big price

Injuries mount up in stunning win

I have always said it is so much easier to write after a win than a loss. It seems like conventional wisdom, but you would be amazed how easy it is to pick apart your team after watching a loss or 10. Winning writing is more upbeat and positive…except for today.

The win was great, but the end result turned out to be ugly as the Seahawks sacrificed many starters to injury before the game ended.

I will start with the offensive line. They played phenomenally well and only allowed 1 lone sack on Tarvaris Jackson. Not only that, but they helped Marshawn Lynch rack up over 100 yards again. You can tell the line played well when Lynch reached the 100 milestone while his longest run was only 8 yards.

That is a telling statistic.

The tragedy on the line, though, is news that John Moffitt is lost for the year with a serious knee injury.

Ravens vs. Seahawks

TMQB: Ravens vs. Seahawks - "What a game"

The receiving corps seemed to disappear slowly, resulting in desperation as they targeted Golden Tate a lot by game’s end. Sidney Rice and Doug Baldwin went down with concussions.

Before Baldwin left the game, he made a beautiful 50 yard reception up the left sideline to help put the Seahawks in range for one of their 5 field goals.

Special teams was on fire, too.

They did not allow a big gain on any kick. Fullback Michael Robinson made one of the best plays of the season, destroying Ravens FB Vontae Leach and blasting him into his own ball carrier, causing a huge turnover in favor of the Seahawks.

Jon Ryan‘s leg got a rest for a day while Steven Hauschka‘s got a severe workout, kicking 5 field goals for the Seahawks.

The defense was spectacular in all facets as well. Another tipped pass by Seattle led to another interception as the pass coverage was smothering the Ravens receivers. Ask Anquan Boldin.

Ravens RB Ray Rice was visibly frustrated on his sideline by game’s end as he was held to 37 yards total on 5 carries. What’s even funnier is that he had more passing touchdowns than his QB, Joe Flacco.

Marshawn Lynch made Ray Lewis and Jarrett Johnson look just stupid on this play.

Normally I would complain about the Seahawks getting 5 field goals versus putting a few of those into the endzone for more points.

This time, though, you have to consider who they were facing. The #3 defense in the NFL consisting of Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs is scary, and the Seahawks dismantled them.

Those talking about losses for a higher draft pick will have to put your nay-saying on hold for at least another week. The Seahawks have other plans.
