Relax Seattle! Seahawks loss no cause for concern

Bump in the Road

I’m sure most people out there are as frustrated as I am with that disappointing Seahawks loss to the 49ers on Thursday night. Once again the defense did its job and the offense just never seemed to find its groove.

The Seahawks are now 0-3 against NFC West opponents which is a problem, however let’s just sit back and take our hands away from the panic button for now.

With a 4-3 record the Seahawks are still in great shape in the NFC. I believe that tonight was a matter of missed opportunities and dropped passes that ultimately cost us the game.

Last week against the Patriots it seemed like the receivers could do no wrong going up and getting the tough catches as well as hauling in the easy ones for key first downs.

This week the receivers were getting out muscled and there were several key dropped balls for easy first downs and one in particular by Robert Turbin which may have cost the Seahawks a touchdown.

Marshawn Lynch

One bright spot offensively last night was Marshawn Lynch

The stats don’t tell the story on Russell Wilson tonight. He had one interception that he would like to have back on a ball that was over thrown and possible shouldn’t have been thrown in the first place.

Other than that he looked steady but just didn’t get the help he needed from the receivers.

The bright spot for the Seahawks offensively was Marshawn Lynch who gave us another look at “Beast Mode” this evening becoming only the second running back to rush for over 100 yards against the 49ers this season.

The Seahawks may be 0-3 in the NFC West but everyone has to remember that they will play all three of those teams at home in front of the 12th man where it is obvious that they are a significantly better team.

With the strength of the NFC West this season a 3-3 record may not put them behind in the tie breaker when the playoffs roll around.

4-3 is a good place to be at this point in the season sitting just one game back of the division lead with more than two months remaining and nine games left on the schedule.

This team has many things going for them.

The defense has proven it is one of the elite units in the NFL; we have a rookie QB who’s had to grow up in a hurry but has proven that he can handle the pressure of being on a winning football team and not to mention having one of the best running backs in the game today.

I am optimistic that this will just be another bump in the road for the Seahawks and they will benefit from a few extra days of rest in preparation for another big game against the Detroit Lions a week from Sunday once again on the road.
