Rice Has A Nice First Game
Is it just me or did something change for the Seahawks the moment Sidney Rice stepped on the football field yesterday? Suddenly, they had a playmaker, a threat, a guy who could stretch the field.
Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson clearly appreciated having the 6’4” receiver join the starting lineup as a Seahawk for the first time. He hit Rice for eight catches and 109 yards.
Though the Seahawks didn’t exactly light it up Sunday, beating Arizona 13-10, the Jackson-to-Rice connection hinted at what the offense might be capable of. We saw what Kenny Britt (R.I.P.) did for Matt Hasselbeck in Tennessee; could an elite wideout have the same effect on Jackson?
The two didn’t take long for Jackson and Rice to re-establish chemistry, as they were teammates with the Minnesota Vikings.
“He’s very comfortable with me,” Rice said of Jackson.
“We’ve been together for the previous four years in Minnesota. He knows where I’m going to be.”

Perhaps most encouraging was that Rice posted some nice numbers despite playing with a labrum tear that caused him to miss the first two games of 2011.
Talent isn’t the question for him – it’s just his ability to stay on the field that worries Seahawks fans.
Here’s hoping Rice can keep the connection going with Jackson and avoid the infirmary.
