Seahawks Fantasy Analysis – Week 8
The Seattle Seahawks play their second straight nationally televised game on the road this week – this time on Monday night against a St. Louis Rams team that has been less-than-spectacular defensively and that just lost their “franchise” QB for the season.
Although it may look like a Fantasy bonanza, go back to the Jags game when the starters’ numbers were disappointing – the game got out of reach early and the Studs for Seattle were rested.
I see the same happening this week too.
That said, there is some Fantasy gold on the Seahawks roster – let`s take a look.
QB Russell Wilson
40 rushing yards, 200 passing yards, 2 TD
Wilson once again proved difficult to pin down in the world of Fantasy last week when he went off for 235 yards and three touchdowns. He continues to take exactly what defenses give him. This week has all the makings of a blowout in St. Louis – my guess is that this game will be out of hand early and Wilson won`t be called upon all that much.
Wilson only passed for 160 yards and no scores in St. Louis last season and although more refined his yardage numbers likely won`t be much north of that.
However two scores is a realistic possibility – he has shown poise in the red zone and zero fear to have the ball in his hands.
RB Marshawn Lynch
110 rushing yards, 1 TD, 2 catches, 10 yards
Of course Marshawn is an elite Fantasy option this week – he should be able to eat up a weak Rams defense in a game that the Hawks should absolutely control.
Lynch gained 118 yards and a score on 20 carries in St. Louis for 2012, and added four catches for 37 yards and should be able to get that this week with a score as well.
WR Doug Baldwin
3 catches, 40 yards
If I project an OK game for Wilson, I can`t really expect a receiver to go nuts. No wideout has eclipsed 100 yards on the season so far and each has taken a turn having a good game. With the possibility of Percy Harvin coming back, ALL Seahawks receivers are a risky proposition this week.
WR Sidney Rice
4 catches, 50 yards, 1 TD
Rice had a TD last week and I think he gets another this week. Wilson`s confidence in Sidney Rice seems to be growing in the red zone, He will post moderate yardage and a score but is far too inconsistent to trust in the world of Fantasy at this point.
The threat of Percy Harvin forces us to temper expectations.
WR Golden Tate
5 catches 70 yards
Golden Tate is the receiver on the Hawks with the most games over 50 yards – not saying a whole lot. He has yet to score and likely isn`t a threat this week either.
As mentioned – NO Hawks receivers are recommended Fantasy starts – not enough yardage to be spread to three or possibly five guys.
TE Zach Miller
2 catches, 30 yards
Had a TD last week but this will be the Marshawn Lynch show this week. He should get his typical 20-45 yards this week – not a Fantasy consideration.
PK Steven Hauschka
2 FG 3 XP
Defense – Special Teams
10 points, 225 yards, 2 Int. 1 FF, 4 sacks
Kellen Clemens starts at QB for the Rams this week – cha-ching!
The St. Louis Rams offense was poor with Sam Bradford at the helm but takes an enormous step back with their backup running the show. The St. Louis run game has been non-existent this year meaning that the game will likely be in the hands of Clemens.
Seattle is your Number 1 Fantasy defense this week – enjoy the points if you own them.
