Seahawks Hit the Road for the Last Time
The Seattle Seahawks pay visit to MetLife Stadium Sunday – home of the Super Bowl that they have their eyes squarely fixed upon. The Hawks are coming off their first loss in two months but have the pleasure of playing a New York Giants team that got beaten down 37-14 in San Diego last week.

Seattle’s road struggles are a thing of the past – they are 5-2 away from home this year and they played well enough to win in San Francisco last week. The trick now is to rebound from a rare loss and keep their eyes on the prize.
The Hawks were dealt another blow on defense last week – KJ Wright broke his foot. No – he wasn’t suspended like the cornerback on this team! Still, you absolutely have to love the matchup Sunday – the Seahawks are allowing 15.8 points and 287.1 yards per game – one of the best defensive unites in the game going up against one of the most mistake-prone offenses in the league.
Wright will be missed but the players the Hawks have tabbed to fill in for their stars have filled in more than admirably. Jeremy Lane has been terrific and Malcolm Smith is a very capable fill-in for KJ Wright.
Keep in mind that the Seahawks defense gave up just 318 yards of total offense on the road to the 49ers last week.
Offensively the Hawks should have nothing to worry about. New York has surrendered 390 rushing yards over the past three games and Marshawn Lynch is ready to explode. He went for 131 total yards with 98 and a touchdown on the ground in a 36-25 road victory here Oct. 9, 2011 and has 1,042 yards on the year with 10 touchdowns. He should be a big part of the game plan next week.
The rest of the offense played OK last week but didn’t do enough to secure the win. Russell Wilson has been terrific completing 64.5 percent of his passes for 23 touchdowns and he has rushed for 458 yards. Golden Tate has 52 receptions and four touchdowns and Doug Baldwin has 43 receptions and four touchdowns.
The Giants offense has been a mess – you have to think they are going to struggles against Seattle’s insane defense. Eli Manning has completed 58.6 percent of his passes with just 16 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. His offensive line has allowed 33 sacks – yuk!
Andre Brown is back in action and he is averaging 4.3 yards per carry while Peyton Hillis is still being used in some short yardage situations. Victor Cruz has 71 receptions and Hakeem Nicks has 49 catches but the two have combined for just one TD catch since Week 1. Unbelievable!
Dave B’s Free Won’t Cost You Anything Betting Prediction:
A few trends to consider:
• SEA are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 road games.
• Over is 12-4 in SEA last 16 games in December.
• SEA are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
• Over is 6-2 in NYG last 8 home games.
• Over is 6-2 in NYG last 8 games on fieldturf.
This game is a tad tough to call – the weather will likely be brutal and the game low scoring. Despite, I’ taking the Hawks and the 7 points.
They are too good in every aspect of the game and too mindful that a win would clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Turnovers will cost New York again!
