On the Road Again – Seahawks Visit Atlanta in Week 10
The Seattle Seahawks may not be getting any style points for their recent success but wins are wins and they will be chasing another one this Sunday when they head to Atlanta to take on the colossally disappointing Falcons. Atlanta has won four straight over the Hawks including in last year’s playoffs but these two teams are completely different than the last time they played.

Seattle, despite winning is just 1-4 ATS in their last five games while the Falcons are 2-6 ATS on the year.
The Seattle Seahawks got it done last week rallying from 21 points down to secure victory at home – the second straight week that they haven’t covered the enormous spread. Russell Wilson was guilty of some uncharacteristic mistakes last week and the defense actually looked mortal at times.
Seattle is already 4-1 away from home this year – we don’t have to worry so much about the road issues that plagued this team for years.
They still rank fifth in the league in rushing, second in defense and second vs. the pass – one of the more complete teams in the NFL right now.
Russell Wilson is a legitimate dual threat QB -1,845 yards and 15 touchdowns through the air 375 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Marshawn Lynch has 726 yards and six touchdowns on the season for the fifth-ranked run game. The run sets up the pass which has been totally effective when it needs to be.
Seattle has been masters at taking what defenses give them this year and Sunday at Atlanta should be no different.
Seattle’s defense has been terrific ranking third in the league in points allowed and second in both total yards and passing yards per contest. With a struggling and undermanned Atlanta offense expect to see the Hawks at their best Sunday. The run defense hasn’t been great ranking 19th in the league but the Falcons can’t run the ball anyway!
The Atlanta Falcons are definitely the biggest disappointment in the league this year.
Injuries have played a factor for sure – the loss of Julio Jones and the limitations of Roddy White would be crippling to any team. Steven Jackson looks like a total bust but is getting healthier and looking to build on 63 yards rushing last week.
Matt Ryan has four-three interception games this year including last week and looks to be trying to win every game by himself.
Is it any wonder this team is 2-6?
Defensively, the Falcons have been one of the worst units in the league – 26th in points allowed, 21st in total yards allowed and 30th in the league in defensive efficiency. They are the reason this team is constantly behind and seem to be mismatched each and every week.

A few trends to consider:
• SEA are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games.
• SEA are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 vs. NFC.
• Over is 8-3 in SEA last 11 road games.
• Under is 10-1 in ATL last 11 games in November.
• ATL are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. NFC.
• ATL are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games on fieldturf.
• Underdog is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings.
The Atlanta Falcons were schooled last week against a very similar team to the Seattle Seahawks – the Carolina Panthers. But a look at how the Falcons have been losing seems to suggest this game should be close – four of their six losses have come by less than seven points. I like the Hawks to win but a proud Falcons team to battle on home turf.
