Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals Week 7 gambling odds & handicapping

Hawks Hit the Road for Thursday Night

The Seattle Seahawks, off a somewhat unflattering 20-13 win at home against the Tennessee Titans head out on the road Thursday night for a nationally televised game against NFC West foe, the Arizona Cardinals. While the Hawks played just OK last week in a win last week, the Cardinals held their own against the 49ers before San Fran pulled away late.

The Blue Birds

The Hawks have certainly been better on the road this year going 2-1 but Arizona has won six of the last seven home matchups against the Seahawks.

The Hawks are 2-1 on the road this year but they have hardly been dominant – the wins have come by a combined eight points.

They enter Thursday night’s game off one of their least impressive offensive outputs of the year. Russell Wilson passed for 257 yards, slightly above his 209 yards per game average and Marshawn Lynch rumbled for just 77 yards.

They looked out of sync against an average Titans defense and now have the displeasure of playing a Cardinals defense that had been ranked #3 against the run before Frank Gore went for 149 yards against them last week and a secondary that has some guy named Patrick Peterson wreaking havoc.

The Hawks have certainly been better on the road this year going 2-1

Seattle’s defense was as advertised last week – 2 interceptions and two sacks. They face a Cardinals team that fell victim to turnovers last week – San Fran caused four mistakes including two interceptions by Carson Palmer.

The Red Birds

The Seahawks defense has to be licking their chops ahead Thursday night’s contest.

The Cardinals are 3-3 but they may be a tad better than their record indicates. This team generated 403 yards of offense against the Niners’ stout defense – Carson Palmer threw for 298 and rookie running back Andre Ellington gained 92 combined yards in the loss.

The Cards moved the ball against San Francisco – perhaps a small moral victory?

They also appear to finally have that dynamic playmaker out of the backfield that they have sorely lacked.

The Arizona defense was OK in Week 6 and if not for turnovers by the offense they may have won.

Two people beat them last week – Vernon Davis went off for 180 yards and 2 TDs and Frank Gore generated 149 combined yards – are you listening Marshawn Lynch!!

While the Seahawks don’t have anyone like Mr. Davis, Marshawn Lynch can certainly watch some tape and exploit the Cards the way Gore did.

Dave B’s Won’t Cost You Anything Free Betting Prediction:

A few trends to consider:

• Over is 7-2 in SEA last 9 road games.
• SEA are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
• SEA are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 vs. NFC.
• Over is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings in Arizona.

The Arizona Cardinals have made a habit of making life miserable on the Seattle Seahawks on home turf. Arizona played San Francisco tough last week and may have deserved a better fate. The availability of Larry Fitzgerald and defensive end Calais Campbell is in question however – advantage Seattle. Seattle wins a low scoring war on NFL Network Thursday – 17-13.
