Start ‘em & Sit ‘em Week 2
Fantasy Football – Seattle Seahawks Week 2 predictions
Week 2 of the NFL season is upon us, which means it’s time to start thinking about lineup decisions for your Fantasy team. Russell Wilson was Seattle’s Fantasy star last week in Carolina with Doug Baldwin shocking the Fantasy world and the Defense playing lights out as expected.
This week presents a different challenge altogether — the prolific, well balanced offence of San Francisco comes to town with a new toy. Anquan Boldin gained 200-plus yards all by himself last week!
So let’s break down all of Seattle’s position players and who should start for your Fantasy squad this week.
QB Russell Wilson
10 yards rushing, 250 yards passing, 2 TDs
Well, most of us were way off with our projections for Mr. Wilson last week, and with teams keying in on Marshawn Lynch, the QB aired it out to the tune of 320 yards and one TD. He threw four TDs in the last meeting between the two clubs, and with the newfound confidence, I like him to pick up where he left off last week.
The Niners showed that their defensive weakness is in the secondary — an area Wilson and the Hawks will exploit this week. He is definitely start-worthy in deeper leagues!
RB Marshawn Lynch
110 yards rushing, 1 TD 2 catches – 10 yards
Marshawn Lynch had just 43 yards rushing on 17 carries last week — that isn’t going to happen very often. Although the Niners own a terrific run defense, Lynch has fared very well against them recently — two straight 100-plus-yard games.
At home, looking to erase the memory of last week, Lynch should eclipse 100 yards and score. Start!
WR Doug Baldwin
5 catches – 60 yards, 1TD
Doug Baldwin was the only real effective pass catcher last week and led the team with 91 yards. I like him to lead the team again. While teams focus on Golden Tate and Sidney Rice (who both struggled against SF last year), Baldwin finds some space and scores again this week.
He looks like an early candidate for breakout player of the year!
He is still not start-worthy Fantasy-wise, but a couple more good weeks and he will be firmly on the Fantasy radar.
WR Sidney Rice
3 catches – 50 yards
Sidney Rice was a non-factor last week with 2 catches for 35 yards, and until he shows he can shake the opposition’s best corner, I have to project some low numbers for him.
Wilson didn’t even look his way last week. He will be better this week — just not a whole lot based on his recent struggles versus the 49ers.
WR Golden Tate
4 catches – 50 yards
Golden Tate was OK last week with four catches, 51 yards. Expect more of the same this time around, as the 49ers continue to shut him down.
Baldwin is my man this week – Tate lags behind.
TE Zach Miller
3 catches – 30 yards, 1 TD
Zach Miller always seems to be good for 25-45 yards, and last week was no different — 42 yards receiving. He got some red zone looks last week, and I like him to score this week and to post his usual numbers.
Is he on the Fantasy radar just yet? No, but a TD or two will open a few eyes!
PK Steven Hauschka
1 FG 3 XP
300 yds, 1 Int., 1 FF, 2 sacks
They are a top-10 defense this week thanks to the home town crowd — I may be leery of starting them if this game was played in SF.
Colin Kaepernick and crew gained 500 yards last week and looked sensational at home. But SF struggled at CenturyLink – I think the same happens this week.
