Seahawks LeRoy Hill marijuana charges dropped

Seahawks Blog Update

On February 27th news first broke about LeRoy Hill being charged with marijuana possession in Atlanta.

I said at the time we all know in our hearts that Hill had played his last game in a Seattle Seahawks uniform.

Looks like I’m wrong.

As reported over at the Tacoma News Tribune by Eric Williams today Seattle Seahawks linebacker LeRoy Hill had his marijuana charges dropped according to his attorney.

The report states officers investigated, confirmed the odor and obtained a search warrant. Upon entry, officers found partially-smoked suspected marijuana “blunts” in plain view, as well as marijuana residue.

Both Hill and his girlfriend submitted to a urine test immediately following their arrest, and both tests came back negative.

“This morning the charges against Leroy Hill Jr. were completely dismissed because he was innocent of having any knowledge that trace amounts of marijuana were in his apartment,” Garland said.

You’ve got to think now with the charges dropped Hill has a chance to return to Seattle as a starting linebacker in 2012.

Leroy Hill

Hill had his charges dropped today. Carry on son!

We of course just need to know if Pete Carroll and John Schneider want him back in the fold, OR if they’d rather replace him with a younger player.

Mike Sando over at ESPN West blog at ESPN says, “A team can now sign Hill without worrying about discipline from the NFL stemming from this incident.”

Sounds good. Congrats LeRoy for not smoking the hippy lettuce that night.

In other Seahawks news over the last 24 hours, Marshawn Lynch was re-signed to a HUGE contract. Read about by clicking the link.

John Schneider commented on Lynch’s signing. ““We are excited to keep Marshawn as an important part of what we are building. This is what we were hoping for when we acquired him from Buffalo.”

Franchise Tag Update

A few short hours ago the NFL time limit on teams using the 2012 franchise tag came and went. No Seattle Seahawks were tagged.

That included the rumor about Red Bryant being tagged.  Bryant, as a DE in Pete Carroll’s system would have commanded approximatly $10.6 million for one year at the franchise price.

We’ll now find out how much Red values the fit he has enjoyed in Seattle.

Sixteen players are free to pursue free agent contracts.

Not smoking the Hippie lettuce that day? You chittin me man? THC stays in the body up to 3 months depending on body fat and a few other factors. If he and his girl passed the test, they have been clean for quite some time.
