Seattle Insider: Presser Quotes
Seattle Seahawks head football coach and press conference wise-guy Pete Carroll came to the podium today prepared to put in some time. He answered 40 minutes worth of questions.
That has to set some records doesn’t it? He put his own charismatic wrap on the season.
2011 was an interesting year for the Seahawks, and whether you agree with me or not I think this season was a marginal success.
I know 7-9 is not successful in terms of everyday life, but in this case I really feel like the foundation has been laid for a CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL TEAM.
Onto the Pete Carroll press conference quotes.
On 2012 Offseason
“So many positive things to look towards when you look at how young this team is.”
“We’ve commited to a bunch of young guys to play. We know they’ll continue to improve.”
“We’re going to find our ways to improve, from inside out, FA and the draft, battle for spots.”
On Tarvaris Jackson
“I have tremendous respect for what T-Jack did. Took 1 hit after another, respect ability to play thru.”
“We’re greatful he “survived” this season!”
On Free Agency
“Our first concern is take care of the UFA’s on our team. Cap wise we can be competitive. We have room.”
“We believe the guys here with us are the foundation of a championship football team.”
On Injuries
“Sidney Rice is having shoulder surgery this week. Richard Sherman is having a scope. We’re fortunate.”
“Carpenter has the biggest issue, we’ll see how that goes.”
On Carpenter – “We don’t know if we’ll have him back for camp. It’s usually a 9 month deal.”
On Attitude
“We didn’t finish our games, we were close in almost every game. Maturity will allow us to come thru.”
On Coaches
“Luke Butkus is going to Illinois to coach the offensive line, Jeff Ulbrich is going to UCLA to coach special teams.”

Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll Year End Press Conference Quotes
ON QB’s
“Andrew Luck looks like an advanced pro football player. Its a new day for NFL teams.”
ON Tom Cable
“I want Tom Cable to stay here forever! He’s tremendous. It’s just a matter of time…, we’re cutting the phone lines to his office.”
On Marshawn Lynch
“Huge part! His willingness to fight, claw, scratch for every inch is exactly what we want!”
“There’s other guys than can run the ball, but he’s our guy.”
ON Surprises in the 2011 Season
“Hard to leave out Doug Baldwin as biggest surprise of the season. He’s our 8th rd pick.”
On K.J. Wright
“He can play both inside & outside, is a legit starting outside backer, rush ability, remarkable.”
“We wouldn’t move David Hawthorne outside to move KJ inside.”
On Red Bryant
“Red is not a future pass rusher, he’s a run stopper!”
On Needs
“We need to get faster on D, more speed from LB core, speedy insider/outside rushers. We’d like to add more competitive guys in our secondary.”
“We’re excited about our depth on the offensive line, he’ll have to be a hotshot to get drafted.”
“AT split end we think Sidney will be a factor for us. Emergence of Tate, Baldwin is exciting.”
On Lockette at WR
“Tremendous speed, playmaking ability, needs to grow up in football. A natural playmaker.”
On IR Guys
“Love to have Jimmy Wilkerson back. Good competitve kid. John Carlson for sure.”
You didn’t expect him to tell you who they’ve got number 1 on their 2012 NFL draft board did you?
Read into all his answers what you will, but my take is he wants to resign the UFA’s on this team that they can, wants to bring back Lynch, and maybe another back to compliment him, wants to add more depth at secondary and linebacker, and make the QB position more competitive as he wasn’t happy with the way the Seahawks finished games.
Just my .02c.
