Two straight 50 point games has Hawks one win from Playoffs

Seahawk’s Offense Starting to Turn Heads

We are 14 games into the regular season and the Seattle Seahawks appear to be peaking at the perfect time. Within a matter of weeks this Seahawks offense, which has been steadily improving throughout the season, has become one of the hot topics across the NFL.

This past Sunday the Seahawks dropped the Bills 50-17 just one week after rolling over the Arizona Cardinals 58-0 making them just the third team in NFL history to score 50 points in back to back weeks. Who would have thought this could happen when our defense was keeping us in games?

I know I can speak for all Seahawk fans when I say where has this been?

There was a magical flip of the switch when the Seahawks got the ball inside their own five yard line needing a touchdown with under two minutes left against the Bears in week 13.

Not only did Russell Wilson and the Seahawks drive down the field for the Touchdown once but did it again in overtime with an 80 yard drive. Since then punter Jon Ryan has probably lost 15 pounds from the exercise bike on the sideline.

The one thing that really  jumps off the stat sheet is the  running game. The zone read has been causing all kinds of problems for the defenses and can you blame them when the other option in the zone read is Marshawn Lynch

Wilson has also been running on broken pass plays more as well.

Against the Bills, Wilson had all kinds of room to run when all his receivers were covered which led to two of the Seahawks first half touchdowns.

Against the Bills, Wilson had all kinds of room to run

Offenses like the Bills and the Cardinals who rely heavily on the run game have no chance of catching up to a team scoring like Seattle.

The National media has been giving Wilson most of the credit and rightly so. He has grown up in a hurry and it shows on the scoreboard. However I think we need to also hand a lot of credit to Tom Cable and the offensive line.

Did you see those hole’s that Lynch was running through?

Giving a running back like Lynch that much room is the sign of a dangerous offense.

Lynch has broken the 100 yard mark each of the last two weeks on just 11 and 10 carries respectively. This is good for a couple reasons. First and most importantly we are able to rest Lynch during the second half which could be key given that he has had some back issues recently.

Secondly we are giving Robert Turbin a chance to develop and he has looked like the real deal so far.

On any given down the Seahawks can line up with three options, a standard drop back and pass, a standard hand off or a Russell Wilson run. This is incredibly hard to game plan for, not to mention that doesn’t even include Wilson’s ability to make something from nothing when the play breaks down.

Jim Harbaugh will have his work cut out for him. As will Pete Carroll who has to prepare for a similar quarterback in Colin Kaepernick.

It’s going to be a very different game then we saw on Thursday night football in October but we should be prepared for a nail biter.

No, I don’t think we are going to score 50 points on the best defense in the NFL but I have confidence we can put more points on the board this time.

The Seahawks need just one win to get in the post season with two game left. But I think we all agree that better then clinching a playoff berth this weekend would be avoiding the Niners celebrating the NFC West title in Seattle and who knows maybe we motivated the Cardinals enough to take down the 49ers in week 17.

This Division race is far from over.

This is a crazy season, rockies playing like vet’s and big teams losing against non contenders, anything can happen! I think is great that you recognize Tom Cable’s work, and also being honest about another game scoring 50+ points.

My hawks will go to postseason and will be a real contender, that’s for sure!!! Hope ESPN and NFLNetwork realize that our hawks are for real, we deserve more media atention…

    I love your article!
