NFC West Week 9 Game Capsules
Once again this week only one team in the NFC west has a REAL shot at the playoffs the San Francisco 49ers. The Seattle Seahawks led by Tarvaris Jackson and Marshawn Lynch, and the Arizona Cardinals led by Kevin Kolb and Larry Fitzgerald hope to change things this week. This is after all the NFC West we’re talking about.
Here’s my capsule previews and NFC West predictions for Week 9.
Good luck on your NFL bets, NFL picks, NFL Pools and whatever else your “NFL Gambling” on folks!
SEAHAWKS vs COWBOYS (Nov 6, 1 p.m. ET):
Man, things are going from bad to worse in Seattle, as the Seahawks have lost 3 of their last 4 games and in their last 2 games they have scored a grand total of 15 points. The Seahawks rank 24th in the league in passing yards per game and 31st in rushing yards per game. Yeah, that ain’t gonna win many games.
With the struggles of the Seattle offense, their D has not played great either, they still may have a chance in this game facing a Cowboys’ team that gave up 495 yards in their 34-7 blowout loss to Philly last week.
QB Tarvaris Jackson passed for a career high 323 yards last week and he will need to have a huge game since he may not get much help from the rushing attack. RB Marshawn Lynch did score Seattle’s only TD last week, but he only picked up 24 yards on 16 carries.
Dallas played horrid defense against Philly last week, but Seattle does not have Vick in the backfield and the Seahawks will probably suffer their 3rd straight loss in Big D this Sunday.
49ERS vs REDSKINS (Nov 6, 1 p.m. ET):
The 49ers are riding high, as they are 6-1, have a huge lead in the weak NFC West, and they have won 5 straight. I think 7-1 is in the cards facing a Skins’ team that has lost 3 straight and was shut out last week.
Alex Smith has played great staying away from turnovers and managing games well and RB Frank Gore leads San Fran and their 6th ranked rushing offense.
The one weakness of the 49ers is their pass defense, ranking 21st in the league, but do you think Washington QB Jon Beck, or Rex Grossman for that matter, can take advantage of that? Yeah right.
Don’t look for the Skins to be able to run the ball either against the 49ers and their top-ranked rushing defense. This is an easy pick folks! The 49ers should have no problems winning this game in the nation’s capital.
RAMS vs CARDINALS (NOV 6, 4:15 p.m. ET):
OK, so which Rams’ team will show up in the desert this Sunday?
The one that scored 56 points in their first 6 games or the one that scored 31 in an upset win over the Saints last Sunday?
Steven Jackson rushed for 159 yards with 2 TD last week against the Rams and in his last 3 games against Arizona he has averaged just under 100 yards.
Sam Bradford may come back in this game, but if he cannot go again with an injured ankle ex-Oregon player A.J. Feeley will get another start. Whoever is under center will be facing an Arizona pass defense that ranks 30th in the league.
Arizona’s Kevin Kolb has not been the answer for the Cardinals this season and he is banged up with turf-toe, but should start.
Will he stay upright?
The Cardinals have given up a NFC high 24 sacks on the season and one of the main reasons the Rams won last week was that they sacked Drew Brees 6 times.
Just a hunch, the Rams will get their 2nd win of the season this Sunday while the Cardinals will lose their 7th straight.
