NFC West Week 12 Game Capsules
Only one team in the NFC west has a REAL shot at the playoffs the San Francisco 49ers who face the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving in the Harbaugh bowl. The Seattle Seahawks host the Redskins and the Arizona Cardinals have a good chance to get back in the W column facing the St. Louis Rams.
Here’s my capsule previews and NFC West predictions for Week 12. Good luck on your NFL bets, NFL picks, NFL Pools and whatever else your “NFL Gambling” on folks!
49ERS vs RAVENS (Nov 24, 8:30 PM ET):
The 49ers (9-1) are running away with the NFC West and they may have proved they are a legit Super Bowl contender with their win over Giants a couple weeks back.
The Ravens are 5-0 at home this season and they are coming off beating the Bengals last week.
They have a solid defense ranking 5th in the league defending the run and 7th in the league defending the pass. The Ravens may have to get a good game from QB Joe Flacco, as he will be facing a San Fran pass defense that only ranks 23rd in the league. Don’t look for Baltimore RB Ray Rice to have a big game facing the 49ers’ run defense, which is the best in the league. Alex Smith has to play like he has been in avoiding the turnovers and limiting his mistakes. RB Frank Gore has been limited at practice this week, but he will be counted on to have a good game and if the 49ers struggle to run the ball Smith will have to air it out.
I think the 49ers are for real and while they are a 3-point underdog I think they will score an upset in Baltimore on Turkey Day.
CARDINALS vs RAMS (Nov 27, 1 PM ET):
ATS Matchup ReportThe Cardinals had their 2-game winning streak snapped last week in a loss to the 49ers. They have a good chance to get back in the W column facing a Rams’ team that has lost 2 of their last 3 games and has been decimated by injuries. The Rams only had a grand total of 185 yards last week in only scoring 7 points in a loss to the Seahawks. QB Sam Bradford is playing behind a banged up offensive line and he has a less than stellar WR corps. Rams’ RB Steven Jackson had his streak of 3 straight games of at least 125 rushing yards snapped in the loss to the Seahawks last week. However, a few weeks back he rushed for 130 yards in an OT loss to the Cardinals and he will have another good game. Take the Rams to win in this game behind a strong effort from Jackson.
REDSKINS vs SEAHAWKS (Nov 27, 4:05 PM ET):
ATS Matchup ReportOK, so I live in Washington, but I am still a Redskins fan, but they will not win this game.
Seattle has won 2 straight and their defense has really stepped up.
The Redskins have lost 6 straight, they have not gotten good QB play, and their rushing offense ranks 30th in the league. Rex Grossman will get another start and while he played well last week he cannot do it all with his arm. Marshawn Lynch will have another solid game running the ball and Tarvaris Jackson will limit his mistakes. The main reasons the Seahawks will win is that their defense will play well and shut down a Washington offense that has averaged just under 13 ppg in their 6-game losing streak. The Redskin O-line is in shambles so it wouldn’t surprise me to see Chris Clemons and Raheem Brock have a field day all game long. Hawks win by 14.
