On IR – Trufant may be done
We’ve all heard by now that Seattle Seahawks cornerback Marcus Trufant was put on injured reserve with a back injury. It is no doubt a huge blow to the Seahawks secondary as well as team leadership. It has also left us wondering if Trufant is done in a Seahawks uniform?

Trufant suffered the injury in the October 2nd game against the Falcons. He didn’t know he was hurt until the Wednesday after and apparently it hit him hard. Come game day vs the Giants, he was unable to bend down and tie his shoes, let alone play in a game.
The injury is described as a bruised sacrum and the Seahawks are hoping Trufant won’t need surgery on the injury, but waiting to see. It is related to the back injury he had last year that had him miss the first 6 games of the season.
I personally think he’s done with the team, and possibly the game of football.
Do I want it to go down that way? No. Absolutely Not.
Looking at the situation realistically, it just seems logical. He had surgery on his back already and now they have to consider it again. The back is not the most resilient body part. One surgery is bad enough, but a second surgery or an injury to consider a second one makes it that much more improbable.
Take Lofa Tatupu for example.

Like Lofa Tatupu, Trufant's days in Seattle could be numbered
A Seahawk veteran leader who Seattle seemingly had no problem letting go. Although it was never mentioned or brought up, I personally think Tatupu had an injury that the Seahawks didn’t want to take chances with. Why has nobody picked him up since being released? There’s got to be a reason…
I sadly think this Trufant situation plays out the same way.
With young guys like Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond, Trufant’s play is basically expendable. His greatest talent now would be his leadership, which will be greatly missed on the field.
If Trufant came back in a Seahawks uniform, I personally believe it would be to mentor the young guys and help groom them to play as hard as Trufant did.
I would love to see Trufant out there playing again next season. I wouldn’t put it past the Seahawks, though, to let him go after the way they handled the Tatupu situation.
Either way, the guy is a Seahawks legend, future Ring of Honor member and a Hall of Famer in the hearts of Seahawks fans.
I would love to hear how YOU think the situation will play out.
