Moffitt was a 3rd round 2011 NFL draft choice of the Seahawks. He has started 9 games so far this year, and his play was improving game by game.
Moffitt avoided an ACL tear, but has significant damage to his MCL and PCL on the Seahawks’ 7th offensive play of the game. Its expected his recovery will take anywhere from 6 months to a year.
Second-year offensive lineman Lemuel Jean-Pierre replaced Moffitt on Sunday and I’d expect him to be the starter moving forward. (Carroll also mentioned we could see Paul McQuistan start at RG)
The Seahawks young offensive line (consisting of Okung, Gallery, Carpenter, Moffitt, and Unger) had arguably their best game of the season on Sunday opening holes for Marshawn Lynch versus the vaunted Ravens run defense.
Lynch ran for 109 yards rushing on 32 carries.
We’ll see on Sunday versus the St. Louis Rams how this injury truly affects the young Seahawks running attack.
