Seahawks who impressed against the Vikings Sunday

Seahawks turn it around at home

Seattle Seahawks 30, Minnesota Vikings 20
When: 1:05 PM PST, Sunday, November 4, 2012
Where:  CenturyLink Field, Seattle, Washington

At this point in the season, the Seattle Seahawks offense is a lot further along then I expected them to be.

Sunday they needed it to win.

I would still expect them to have ups and downs during the remainder of the season, but it was a lot of fun to watch them click against the Vikings.

Russell Wilson #3

Every time that Russell Wilson takes the field, he is better than his previous outing.  I wish Darrell Bevell had given Wilson a chance to air the ball out a little bit during the game, but other than that, I couldn’t have asked for much more from the rookie.

Russell had a multiple touchdown game for the second week in a row.  His 3 touchdowns, mark the second time he has done that this season.

Jeremy Lane #20

Where has this kid been hiding?  I would have to say he is one of the best young, up and coming gunners in the NFL.  Jeremy Lane really gets down the field quickly, not just because he’s fast either.  Jeremy uses excellent technique off the line to get clean releases.

For the second time in as many weeks, Lane downed a punt around the five yard line.  The defense hasn’t been able to capitalize in these situations, but every time a punt team can pin an offense back that deep there is the potential of having a game changing play.

He’s going to make us forget about Ben Obomanu in that position.

Marcus Trufant #23

It has been a long road for Marcus Trufant recently.  He has been battling a degenerative back injury for the last couple seasons, and it cost him his starting cornerback job.  For the first time in his career, Marcus found himself playing nickelback.

In every game, there are about 5 plays that you look at and say, “That is what led to the outcome.”  On Sunday, Marcus made one of those plays.

The Vikings scored easily on their first drive (after a missed holding call on one play and a missed illegal hands to the face on another) and then stopped Seattle’s offense.  When the Vikings got the ball back, Trufant stripped a ball out of Percy Harvin‘s arm and recovered the fumble at the Vikings 17 yards line.

It set up Russell Wilson‘s first touchdown.

Marshawn Lynch #24

It seems like Marshawn is on this list every week.  After running for 124-yards and capping it off with a touchdown, he has earned his spot.

Brandon Browner #39

Brandon Browner got called for a bogus penalty early in the game, I can’t fault him for that.

Late in the fourth quarter, Browner made a nice play on a ball that he intercepted with 5:27 left in the game.  That play would wind up being the last the Vikings’ offense would have.

Golden Tate #81

Golden may not have racked up many yards (28) but out of his 4 receptions, 2 were touchdowns. Sunday was the second time Tate has caught 2 touchdown passes in a game this season.

The second was by far the more impressive.

It was the prototypical Darrell Bevell wide receiver screen play.  After a nice block by Sidney Rice, Tate was able to make a couple guys miss and then launched himself into the end zone.

You may have noticed that there were six players as opposed to the typical 5.  I really tried to stick to form, but there wasn’t a single player from this list that I felt comfortable leaving off.

Besides, at the end of the day, I am allowed a little creative license.
