ATLANTA FALCONS (1-2) vs. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (1-2)
The Seattle Seahawks will try to make it two wins in a row on Sunday when they take on one of the preseason favorites to win the Super Bowl – the Atlanta Falcons.
Both teams are 1-2 heading into Sunday and both need a win to keep the dreams of a second straight division title within their grasps.
Atlanta is certainly elite on the offensive side of the ball. Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez are household names capable of tearing up even the best of defenses.
Ryan is one of the best QBs in the league but he has struggled with protection issues this season on the way to five touchdown and four interceptions.
Michael Turner is third in the NFL in rushing although he is coming off a disappointing week in which he ran for just 30 yards. Roddy White and Julio Jones are absolute Studs who combined for 15 catches and 255 yards last week alone!
Seattle got a huge shot in the arm last week in the form of Sidney Rice who immediately stepped in and made a huge difference to the team.
He had the best game that a Hawk receiver has had all season with eight catches for 109 yards. Rice made everyone better – Tarvaris Jackson looked like he could actually play this game and Marshawn Lynch finally showed some signs of life.
Seattle will be going up against a defense that has been good against the run this far but has had some serious issues stopping the pass – 22nd ranked and allowing 261 yards per game through the air.
NFL Prediction: Seattle has something that they have lacked all season – confidence! But unfortunately for them, confidence does not score points. Seattle has gotten it done with a pretty good defense this season – the offense has only averaged 10 points per game so far.
Atlanta is a truly elite offensive club with playmakers to spare. Seattle may grind this game to a near halt but it is unlikely that they will be able to stop a juggernaut Falcons team that is desperate for a win.
Atlanta knows it can’t go 1-3 and I expect them to respond.
Seattle keeps this game close for a while but Atlanta pulls away in the end.
Score: 23-10 Atlanta
