5 Players the Seahawks Must Stop to Beat the Cowboys

Make Jerry Cry!

The Seattle Seahawks have lost 2 in a row and 3 of their last 4 and this Sunday they are in Big D to take on the 3-4 Dallas Cowboys.

Seattle is obviously the underdog, but all is not well in Dallas with America’s Team being 1-game under .500 and coming off a game where they gave up a ton of yards to the Eagles.

They didn’t have any fun in last week’s 34-7 blowout loss in the City of Brotherly Love.

With that said its struck me as sort of strange why the oddsmakers have made the Cowboys double digit home favorites on Sunday. I mean they’re banged up too, and they stunk last week.

The Seahawks didn’t stink, they just had a coach who took to much testosterone before the game…I digress.

Here are 5 players the Seahawks have to try to stop if they are going to pull off another road upset against an NFC East team.

1. QB Tony Romo

Yeah, Romo has had his issues this season, but he has put up good passing yardage numbers and he has no lack of receiving options with the two WR’s of Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, let’s not forget to throw in TE Jason Witten.

Seattle only ranks 18th in the league in pass defense and Dallas ranks 7th in the league in passing yards per game. If Romo has a good game the Seahawks are in trouble. Seattle’s pass rush has to hit home and disrupt Romo’s passing game.

2. LB DeMarcus Ware

Ware ranks 2nd in the NFL in sacks and the Seattle offensive line must keep him in check. Since the Seahawks’ rushing offense ranks 31st in the league QB Tarvaris Jackson may have to carry the offense and that will be hard to do if he is on his butt.

Attention James Carpenter and Russell Okung, you’d better bring your A+ games.

Seahawks Offensive Line

Carpenter, Okung, Gallery, Moffit, and Unger you'd better bring your A+ games.

3. TE Jason Witten

Even with the legit WR’s of Bryant and Austin, Witten leads Dallas in receptions and yards and is averaging 11.9 yards per catch. He is a 3rd down stud and Seattle has to cover him well, especially when Dallas is in 3rd down situations. Do you hear me Kam Chancellor, LeRoy Hill and K.J. Wright?

4. RB’s DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones

The Cowboys don’t have the best rushing offense and the Seahawks’ rushing defense is one of the best in the NFL. If Murray has a game like he did a couple weeks back with over 200 rushing yards Seattle does not have a chance. Stop The Run!

5. Dallas’ 12th man

The Seahawks have lost 3 of their 4 away games this season and they have to take the Cowboys’ fans out of this game and not get down early.

If the Seahawks have to make a comeback they are in big trouble. We all know they have not done so all season and the offense is not one that can put up quick strike points.
