Seahawks Notebook: BYE Week

Just how big was Seattle’s 36 -25 victory over the Giants?

In terms of momentum and confidence, this victory makes the injuries worth the weight in gold. That’s exactly what the Seahawks woke up to on Monday morning.

A rash of injuries to key positions, but nothing you should consider major. In Pete Carroll speak; It’s nothing that a bye week can’t cure.

Because of Tarvaris Jackson‘s  third quarter injury, and Charlie Whitehurst’s fourth quarter success, it’s only natural for some to wonder if this is now a controversy.

But fear not Seahawks fans, Pete Carroll quickly put the kibosh on any controversy by saying that Tarvaris Jackson‘s status as Seattle’s starting QB remains the same.

The Seahawks do expect Trufant to be ready on Oct 23rd

The Tarvaris Jackson Pec

has been diagnosed with what doctors call  a high-grade strain to his pectorial muscle. It was the same injury that former Seahawks LB Lofa Tatupu suffered in 2009.

As you remember, Tatupu required surgury on the muscle tear that ended his season. Carroll did hint that surgery could be an option for Jackson, but then went on to say that rehab will be the first means of recovery.

Carroll also hinted that Jackson could also be ready to go when the Seahawks resume play in two weeks.

Meaning, Pete Carroll fully expects to have Jackson back under center on Oct 23rd when Seattle travels to Cleveland.

News, Notes, and Injuries:

This strain isn’t considered too serious, but just as a precaution, Jackson will sit out of practice for a few days.

In the mean time, Carroll will have Charlie Whitehurst take the majority of the snaps with the first team in the case that Jackson cannot go.

QB isn’t the only position the Seahawks will use the bye week to get healthy. TE Zach Miller who was hit in the head on Sunday, was suffering with stiffness in the neck. Miller had an MRI as a precaution. No word on whether the MRI revealed any extensive damage.

After sitting out Sunday’s win with back spasm’s and a bone bruise, CB Marcus Trufant  had an MRI on his back to see what or if there is any damage.

Although Trufant will sit out practice for a few days, the Seahawks do expect Trufant to be ready on Oct 23rd.

RB Marshawn Lynch suffered an injury to his ankle. After having one of his more productive days as a Seahawk, 12 carries 98 yards 1 TD, Lynch will be given a few days off as precautionary step.

Also, WR Mike Williams was cleared to resume full contact practice after being sidelined with a concussion. Full Seahawks Injury Report
