Moments in Time – Jaguars vs Seahawks 2009

Repeat performance to come?

The Seattle Seahawks are still riding the high of their blowout win over the 49ers in primetime last week. This week, the Jacksonville Jaguars come to town, re-uniting the Seahawks with their defensive coordinator from 2009-2012. The last time the two met, it was October 11, 2009 and the Jaguars had to travel to Seattle.

This week, the Seahawks are 19.5 point favorites, which is absolutely mind boggling in gambling terms. If this game goes anything like the last encounter, the Seahawks could make some people a little bit of money.

If you remember the 2009 season, there is A LOT to recall. What most will recall is that was the year that Jim Mora got to run the team before his shocking departure. This particular game is Matt Hasselbeck’s first game back after suffering broken ribs on a hit from Patrick Willis.

Let’s break out the crystal ball.

1st Qtr

The first quarter was pretty quiet. Just over halfway through the quarter, Olindo Mare hit a 47 yard field goal to put the Seahawks on the board first. Seahawks 3, Jaguars 0

2nd Qtr

Nate Burleson

Love him or hate him, Burleson had his moments. Like 2 TDs vs the Jags

With just under 8 minutes left in the half, Mare came out for another field goal, this time from 27 yards. Seahawks 6, Jaguars 0

After stopping the Jaguars in their tracks yet again, the Seahawks drove downfield and Matt Hasselbeck hit T.J. Houshmanzadeh for a 34 yard touchdown. Seahawks 13, Jaguars 0

Not long after, Seattle stopped Jacksonville again, forcing a 3 and out. The ensuing Seahawk possession led to a connection between Hasselbeck and Nate Burleson from 44 yards out. Seahawks 20, Jaguars 0

3rd Qtr

Piling on the points, Hasselbeck hit Houshmanzadeh again, this time from 13 yards out. Seahawks 27, Jaguars 0

Continuing the trend, Hasselbeck hit Burleson again, a 5 yard connection. Seahawks 34, Jaguars 0

4th Qtr

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Jaguars were in danger of scoring, standing on the Seattle 8 yard line. David Garrard was sacked by Lawrence Jackson and fumbled the ball. Nick Reed scooped the ball up and took it 79 yards for a touchdown.

Seahawks 41, Jaguars 0
