Matt shows off, Shaun runs wild
We all know about the nail biter against Cleveland in 2007. It was a heartbreaking loss and was the 3rd win in a row for the Browns. Do you remember the match-up before that, though? Seattle had fun!
Seahawks vs. Browns
November 30, 2003 – Qwest Field
The Browns came to town that season already looking like a disaster and had the Seahawks and the 12th man licking their lips like rabid hyenas. What the Seahawks would do to them set the tone for the rest of their season.
The scoring kicked off in the first quarter, with Matt Hasselbeck hitting Itula Mili for a short 2 yard pass.
In the second quarter, Hasselbeck hit another short pass, this one to Darrell Jackson for 3 yards. In the third quarter Matt hit Jackson again, this time for a 26 yard hook up.
In the fourth quarter, Shaun Alexander ran one in from 3 yards out.
Josh Brown had field goals of 36 and 41 yards while missing one from 41 yards as well.
Hasselbeck finished the game 26/35 for 328 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception. It was a career day for Hasselbeck, at the time, as we all know he was not know for huge passing games.
Shaun Alexander rushed 27 times for 127 yards and that fourth quarter score.
Darrell Jackson had 8 catches for 102 yards and those 2 scores while Koren Robinson had 6 grabs for 122 yards.
Even Mack Strong got in on the passing game, making 4 catches for 56 yards.
The Seahawks defense did their thing, too.
Ken Lucas had an interception off of Cleveland QB Kelly Holcomb. Chike Okeafor, Kris Richard, Shawn Springs and Reggie Tongue all registered sacks on Holcomb.
The defense caused 2 Cleveland fumbles and recovered them both.
Seattle punter Tom Rouen had a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown by Andre King that allowed the only Cleveland points on the board.
The Seahawks went on to easily win the game 34-7.
The question is…can they perform close to that level this weekend?
