Covering the spread: The Oregon State Beavers

Winning Mentality

For those of you out there that like to occasionally place a wager on sports to fill that hole in your pocket, this article about the Oregon St. Beavers is for you.

Despite it being pretty early in retrospect, some of the very first college football betting lines are out; one of which includes the Pac 12 point spread.

Evident from this very early point spread is the fact that Oregon and USC will be the favorites to win the Pac 12, with a crucial game occurring between the two when the Ducks visit USC in week 10 of the college football season.

Although USC and Oregon will be garnering much of the publicity and recognition within the Pac 12 this year, the Oregon State Beavers will be looking for their own redemption within the Pac 12 this year.

If you are looking to make a few extra bucks off Beaver wins this year, here are the games that you should bet on:

Week Six – Washington State at Oregon State (-2.5)

Though both teams can be said to be rebuilding, the Beavers clearly have the edge over the Cougars in this one. While Mike Leach is a formidable coach and surely has done his job well in college football, he is no Mike Riley.

After two down years, one thing that is certain is that Riley will find a way to make his Beavers relevant once again.

Returning QB Sean Mannion should be able to dissect an aggressive Cougar defense at home, allowing the Beavers to flex their muscles on the way to a victory over the Cougars.

Essential to this game will be the way Oregon State’s defensive line plays against the Cougars.

Sean Mannion

Mannion will be key to Oregon State’s success this year.

With Leach as head coach for the Cougars, expect to see an aggressive mentality and an air-it-out mentality, thus giving the opportunity for a big game for the Beaver defensive linemen.

Week Ten – Arizona State at Oregon State (-6.5)

This game will be yet another match where the Beavers can flex their young muscles.

After losing a tough game in Tempe last season, the Beavers will be looking for revenge as the Sun Devils visit Reeser Stadium and those raucous Beaver fans in week 10 of the college football season.

Despite having an NFL ready back in Cameron Marshall, the Sun Devils will enter this season with a lot of questions that they are seeking to answer.

Coach Todd Graham will be in his first year and players will still need some time to adjust to his system.

The Beavers should be able to use their building experience along with Sun Devils uncertainty to win this game by at least 6.5 points.

Though there are many games that could go either way for the Oregon State Beavers, the two listed above are sure-fire wins for the program.

While placing bets is always a risky business, you are sure to make a quick buck if you bet on these Beaver games.
