OSU (2-7) at California (5-4)
Cal is coming off a 30-7 blowout win over Washington State and they are only 1 win away from being bowl eligible. On the other side of the coin the Beavers have lost 2 in a row and after last week’s 38-13 loss to Stanford it ensured that OSU will have a losing record and will not go bowling this season.
Pac 12 Matchup: Oregon State Beavers (2-7) @ Cal Golden Bears (5-4)
Saturday, November 12, 6:30 p.m. ET
AT&T Park, SAN FRANCISCO, CA
Favorite: Cal -9.5 O/U 51
The Beavers have one chance in this game and that is to air it out early and often. Their rushing offense ranks 113th in the nation while their passing offense ranks 21st. On top of that the Beavers have issues on defense.
OSU has scored a grand total of 21 points in their last 2 games and unless they come alive on offense they will lose their 3rd straight game.
Last season the Golden Bears crushed the Beavers 35-7.
Cal has a pretty well-balanced offense ranking 34th in the nation in passing yards per game and 68th in rushing yards per game.
Golden Bears’ QB Zach Maynard has some good targets and played pretty well last game and while he left the game with an injury he should get the start under center this Saturday night.
OSU has the nation’s 58th ranked defense and the one thing they have going for them is that both of their wins this season have come against teams that have good passing offenses.
The Bears blew up for 288 rushing yards last week against WSU and the main concern for the Oregon State defense, which ranks 77th defending the run, is Cal RB Isi Sofele, who rushed for 138 yards and 1 TD last week.
OSU vs. Cal Week 11 Handicapping Analysis
The one player that may have to have a big game is OSU QB Sean Mannion and while he passed for over 230 yards in his last 2 games turning the ball over has killed him this season. He has 11 TD on the season, but 13 INT.
This game is not a good match up for OSU since the Cal pass defense is legit ranking 30th in the nation and they totally shut down the decent passing attack of Washington State last week.
OSU Freshman RB Malcolm Agnew has failed to average over 3 yards per carry in his last 2 games and in those games had a grand total of 41 yards.
Don’t look for him to break out of his slump, as Mannion will have to go to the air for the Beavers to pull off the upset.
Beavers vs. Golden Bears Prediction
There is a reason that the Beavers are 9.5-point underdogs, as they are not a very good team this season and facing a hungry Cal team in the Bay Area is a train wreck waiting to happen.
