Cal vs. Oregon – Week 6 Recap & Game Summary

Oregon 43 vs. Cal 15

The Ducks (4-1) had no problem in handing the Golden Bears (3-2) their 2nd loss in the Pac 12 with a 43-15 win in Eugene, but the win was a costly one, as stud RB LeMichael James suffered a dislocated elbow and his status for next week’s game against Arizona State is uncertain.

Before suffering the injury in the 4th quarter James had galloped for 239 yards with 1 TD shredding the Cal defense.

The crowd fell silent when James went down in the 4th quarter and how could they not with James, who has rushed for over 200 yards in his last 3 games?

Cal had a 15-14 lead going into the half, but the Ducks roared, ha ha, back in the 2nd half scoring 22 points in the 3rd quarter. In the 3rd quarter Darron Thomas had a 23 yards TD pass to De’Anthony Thomas, RB Kenjon Barner broke a 68-yard TD run, and Darron Thomas had another TD pass to De’Anthony Thomaswith 2 minutes remaining in the quarter.

Oregon 43 vs. Cal 15

Oregon’s defense really stepped up in the 2nd half, as they kept Cal from scoring and they were solid in the game in the clutch holding the Golden Bears to 5/17 on 3rd down conversions.

Besides James’ big day Ducks’ QB Darron Thomas was 13/25 for 198 yards with 3 TD and 1 INT and WR De’Anthony Thomas had 6 catches for 114 yards and 2 TD.

While the Ducks’ D was solid they did give up 321 passing yards and that is a concern since they face Brock Osweiler of Arizona State next week and they still have to face Andrew Luck of Stanford.

The Ducks also have to cut down on the penalties, as in the Cal game they were penalized 11 times for 91 yards.

Oregon unveiled their “Fighting Ducks” uniforms in the Cal game, which were sweet and looked like the bright green and yellow uniforms of year’s past.

Next Up:

Oregon faces 22nd ranked Arizona State next week at home and that is a game between 2 teams that have yet to lose in Pac 12 play.

The game vs. ASU is a HUGE and this week Ducks’ fans will be on pins and needles waiting to hear if James can play or not.
