Too many to choose? You might be right
The Oregon Ducks have become infamous for their uniforms. It can be argued that the university lacks tradition, but the traditions of flash and innovation have become staples around Eugene and the University of Oregon campus.
While some may think of the uniforms as gimmicky, others find them to be an exciting change of pace.
Yes, there have been a handful of unfortunate combinations over the years; but with the uniforms seemingly always changing, there have been many that could go down as some of the best looks that college football has to offer.
5) Throwbacks vs. Cal (2009 Season)
Nike dug deep into the archive to re-create the throwback jerseys from the late 90s, and quite frankly, the uniforms looked even better than the originals.
Despite coming in as the No. 6 team in the country, the California Golden Bears were blown out by the Ducks 42-3. Oregon played well, the retro recreation was a hit and all was good in Eugene heading into the fifth week of the 2009 college football season.
4) Green and Yellow vs. Stanford (2010 Season)
Who would have thought that the Ducks even had a modern-day green and yellow uniform anymore?
Oregon kept their style to a tame green-on-green look when ESPN came to town for one of the biggest games of the year, but the team did throw a slight curve ball by making the numbers on the jersey yellow instead of the grey they’d used in the past.
After all the hype leading into the game, the Ducks won 54-31, and while it’d be tough to call the uniforms a classic look, they certainly resembled a once-similar style from the not-so-distant past.
3) All-White vs. USC (2010)
When Oregon broke out the Stormtrooper attire against the USC Trojans, it might have been one of the cleanest looks in all of college football that season.
With imposing play on the field and an impressive look from Nike and the university, the Ducks left the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum looking good following their 50-32 victory eight weeks into the 2010 season.
2) Black and Yellow vs. Washington State (2009)
The color black has become a primary option for Oregon in recent years, but against Washington State in 2009, it served as a perfect complement to the bright yellow jersey seen at Autzen Stadium.
The Ducks had no trouble with the Cougars that night, and along with one of their best performances of the year, the team showed off one of the best looks of the season.
1) Volt vs. LSU (2011)
The once predominantly green and yellow squad from Eugene, Ore. has added a number of different colors to their attire over the years. The last few seasons, though, have seen the most unique color of them all come to surface—volt.
The Ducks unveiled the color in their 2011 BCS title appearance, and while it was only a brief showing at the end of the year, the color reemerged in the 2012 opener against LSU.
Unfortunately, the contest itself fell short of all the hype, as the Ducks struggled all game long against the size and speed of the Tigers.
Oregon would go on to play much better games that year, but Nike’s Pro Combat uniform proved to be hands down the team’s best look of the 2011 college football season.
