USC Trojans (8-2) vs Oregon Ducks (9-1)
Oregon is back in the BCS title picture baby!
They moved up in the polls since they beat Stanford and because Boise State also lost. It looks as if they will play in the Pac 12 title game, but they face a stiff test playing a USC team that is legit and has scored at least 40 points in their last 3 games.
The big question in this game is can the USC run defense stop the Ducks from racking up the rushing yards?
Last week the Ducks rushed for 232 yards in the win against Stanford and their 3rd ranked rushing defense.
The Trojans have the nation’s 8th ranked rushing D, but when they were blown out last season at home against Oregon La Michael James rushed for 239 yards.
USC has a good pass rush and a good offense, but their run D is the key in this Pac 12 game.
James and backup Kenjon Barner lead Oregon and their 3rd ranked rushing offense. QB Darron Thomas does not air it out much, why would he with LaMichael James in the backfield, but he will be facing a suspect Trojans’ pass defense that only ranks 100th in the nation.
If the Trojans cannot contain James in this game their offense will have to really light up the scoreboard to have any chance to beat Oregon, who have the nation’s 5th highest scoring team.
USC vs. Oregon Week 12 Prediction
Oregon’s D has played well in the last couple of weeks and last week in the HUGE win over Stanford they forced 5 turnovers.
USC has Matt Barkley in the backfield and he has 2 great WR’s in Robert Woods (92 rec 1126 yards 11 TD) and Marqise Lee (52 rec 732 yards 8 TD) and they will have to play well to pull off the upset. Oregon has a great pass rush, so Barkley will need time in the pocket to find his targets.
Another guy that has to play well is RB Curtis McNeal, who rushed for a career high 148 yards last week and has broken the 100-yard barrier in 3 of his last 4 games.
Shocker, I like Oregon in this game, but if I were a betting man, which I am, I would take USC to cover, as this will be a close game.
