UCLA Bruins (6-6) vs Oregon Ducks (10-2)
The inaugural Pac 12 Championship Game is set, but it is not really a marquee game right Oregon fans? Afterall, UCLA backed into the game since Utah was upset by a weak Colorado team in the season finale.
I mean the Bruins lost their last game of the season 50-0 to La La Land rival USC and there were only 5-4 in conference play. On top of that the school announced that they are firing head coach Rick Neuheisel.
Oregon are HUGE favorites in this game and it is not hard to see why. Come on, the Ducks have one of the best rushing offenses in the nation and the Bruins only rank 81st in the nation in run defense.
This game may get ugly and by may I mean will. UCLA had only one win against a ranked opponent this season and that was beating an Arizona State team that lost their last 4 games and finished the season at 6-6.
To throw salt in the wound for lame duck, no pun intended, UCLA the Pac 12 title game is on the Ducks’ home field.
Oregon pasted Oregon State in the Civil War game 49-21 and while they got a scare with LaMichael James leaving in the 2nd half with an elbow injury he will play in this game.
Before James left he rushed for 142 yards and he and Kenjon Barner lead the Ducks and their 5th ranked rushing offense.
While Oregon’s strength is obviously running the ball QB Darron Thomas had his best game of the season against OSU going 27/40 for 305 yards with 4 TD and 0 INT.
Thomas may have another legit outing with a UCLA pass defense that only ranks 68th in the nation and they gave up 423 passing yards last week against USC.
Bruins vs. Ducks Free Pac 12 Title Game Prediction
For UCLA and their oh so manly baby blue jersey wearing team to pull off the MAJOR upset they will need big games from the RB duo of Johnathan Franklin and Derrick Coleman, who was stellar in the loss to USC rushing for 4 yards on 3 carries.
QB Kevin Prince had 261 passing yards in the USC game, but did not toss a TD and was picked off.
The Ducks have had their issues on D this season, but that really does not matter, as they will light up the scoreboard in this Pac 12 title game.
This game WILL be a blowout and the conference will be much better next season with USC being back in the mix.
