Gambling Insight Blue Jays vs M’s Game 1
The suddenly hot Mariners are 11-6 since the All-Star break after victimizing the Royals for the franchise’s first four-game sweep since 2005.
Toronto Blue Jays vs Seattle Mariners
Monday July 30
Safeco Field – Seattle, WA
10:10 PM
Moneyline: Toronto -120, Seattle +110
O/U: 7.5
PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays LH Ricky Romero (8-7, 5.75 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Hisashi Iwakuma (1-2, 4.56)
Toronto
The Blue Jays can just never seem to get any momentum going this season.
They get swept by the Yankees then sweep the Red Sox. Get hammered by Oakland than win three in a row against Oakland and Detroit. There are just a couple of days before the deadline now and this team is nowhere closer to discovering its real level.
If they don’t win all their games at Seattle than this team has no chance.
Lately starter Ricky Romero has been a disaster – he even got booed coming off the field in his last start at home.
Usually a road trip against a weak hitting team in a pitchers park is just what a guy needs to right himself. Unfortunately for Romero he has been walking more than he strikes out as a visitor.

Hisashi Iwakuma has yet to win a start in 4 tries
His success in his career against Seattle has been middling but a return to form could happen any time so there is value here.
Seattle
The Seattle Mariners are on their best run of the season right now – over the weekend they completed a 4 game sweep of the hapless Royals. Twice they have won 4 in row this season but they haven’t been able to seal the deal on number 5 either time.
Despite their current hot streak they are not the favourites heading into Monday night and they have not been very strong at home.
Starter Hisashi Iwakuma has yet to win a start in 4 tries but has had a couple of good showings since being moved from the bullpen including holding the Yankees to just a run over 5 innings last time out.
The rookie righty, like Romero, gives too many free passes but is not backed up by a powerful offense like the Jays have.
Unless he pitches a great deal more sharply his winless streak is very likely to continue.
O/U Pick Over
Score Prediction: Toronto 6 – Seattle 2
