*MLB Matchup Report*
PITCHING MATCHUP: Mariners RH Kevin Millwood (0-4, 5.88 ERA) vs. Yankees LH Andy Pettitte (2010: 11-3, 3.28)
Seattle
The Seattle Mariners are looking to escape New York with a single victory from their trip to the Bronx. Their recent struggles and a surge by Los Angeles has the Mariners in last place in the American League East.
Not a surprise given the expectations coming into the season.
Also not a surprise is that Seattle is one of the worst offensive clubs in the Majors, averaging less than 4 runs per game.
It is no surprise either that starter Kevin Millwood is getting destroyed.
Last year he seemed to be drinking from the fountain of youth but not even the big park in Seattle seems to be able to help him this year. The Mariners have lost his last 5 starts and he has given up 43 hits in 33 innings this season.
I like the value of the M’s in Pettite’s first go but Millwood is definitely a reason to pause before getting down.

New York
There is going to be a lot of buzz around the return of Andy Pettite on Sunday…but will he be triumphant?
Pass or fail the fact that he is even being given the opportunity shows that the Yankees may not be the lead dog in the American League East race this season.
They have been pretty good but they need more veterans than Derek Jeter to be able to turn back the clock for them to succeed.
In his previous lifetime Pettite was always good in front of the home faithful. I am not sure it is relevant for this outing or not but Seattle is one of just two teams that Pettite has a career ERA of more than 5 against.
As in olden times he should get some support.
With Jeter and Curtis Granderson leading the way this team is averaging nearly 5 runs per game. Millwood hardly seems like a sufficient obstacle.
O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: New York 11 – Seattle 5
