Seven more moved to the minors
Not that it wasn’t expected to happen, after all, this is a part of MLB baseball that young players have gotten used to on their journey to the big leagues.
On Saturday, the Seattle Mariners reduced their spring training roster by seven players, and two of the players cut were a surprise to this guy. The cutting of pitcher Aaron Heilman, and outfielder Trayvon Robinson were not expected at all.
At least in my opinion.
Other players receiving the slip today were: Matt Fox, Sean Henn, Josh Kinney, Jeff Marquez, and Oliver Perez. All pitchers. This can only mean one thing; Manager Eric Wedge is happy with his arms in camp this spring.
That is a good thing Mariners fans, as pitching will most likely again be the Mariners strong point this upcoming season. And I am predicting great things from the bullpen this season.
Trayvon will have to wait
The cutting of Trayvon Robinson will probably upset a lot of people. He will most likely start the year off as a starter in Tacoma, and this will help his game along a lot better than only getting a chance to play once a week in Seattle.

It’s still not the news that any up and comer ever wants to hear, but this will be the best thing for Robinson.
Heilman going south too
This move isn’t about getting in extra work for Aaron Heilman. This move is about the M’s having a damn good bullpen going into the season. And as mentioned above, this is a great thing for the Mariners.
With the bottom end of the rotation still full of question marks, the ability of Wedge to field a solid and deep bullpen may be the difference during the first month of the season.
Another shot will have to wait
For the rest of the guys sent down on Saturday, they will have to wait for their shot to be on a big league club again.
Maybe mid season call ups, maybe next season.
Only the future will tell when and if these arms ever get to play for the big league club.
