Next Ace Of The Staff?
From his Elvis style sideburns, to his Wild Thing style glasses, Larry Bernandez has the look to be the sex symbol the Seattle Mariners have been looking to capitalize on for years. Let’s hope his arm is as good as his looks!
Born: Valencia, Venezuela
Birthdate: April 8, 1986
Position: Ace of the staff
Ever since his biggest fan, Felix Hernandez, brought him onto the scene in Seattle, Bernandez mania has been spewing into the rafters at Safeco. He is an international star, with the looks of a Malibu playboy, the charm of a Kennedy, and he is ready to take the Mariners to the highlight reels of ESPN.
Already a TV star in Seattle, doing more than one ad spot for the Mariners, Bernandez is one of the more pleasurable spokesmen for the team.
Making routine photo-op pit stops at the team shop, as well as being known to take in an afternoon at the ballpark, Bernandez is aiming to be one with his fans.
The fans will come out in droves when Bernandez takes on the AL West foes, Los Angelas Angels, Texas Rangers, and Oakland A’s. It’s these games against division rivals that the Mariners need to win and Bernandez is the man for the job.
With a bobblehead night already to his credit, the M’s have also gotten on the band wagon by selling his signature sideburns and glasses to the fans.
Take a trip to any of the area’s night spots that surround the ballpark on game nights and the influence of Larry Bernandez will astound you.
We haven’t seen this kind of mass hysteria since a kid named Junior came to Seattle. Not to be outdone by his Cy Young arward winning compadre King Felix, Berndandez takes all of his new found fame in stride.
With the top of the rotation being headed by Felix Hernandez, Bernandez will be hoping to fight Jason Vargas and newcomer Hisashi Iwukuma for the number two spot.
When it comes to giving back to the community, Bernandez says “Me gusto Seattle,” and has done anything and everything to be of help to the city’s needy.
He once helped an elderly fan back onto his barstool after the Mariners actually won a game last year.
It’s the little things like that that make him who he is and what makes the women of Seattle want to shower him with their affection.
It would be a miracle if LB spent this past Valentine’s Day alone.
Even in Peoria, he’s making the ladies swoon.
Though being the most eligible bachelor in Seattle wasn’t quite what Bernandez had in mind when he made it to the bigs, it’s become a part of his life that he has to deal with.
Needless to say, he would rather spend his four days off charting opposing hitters and trying to make his game better.
But once an international sex symbol, always an international sex symbol.
Seattle just wouldn’t be the same with out him.
