Carp is back!
The Seattle Mariners are finally getting some good news on the injury front. Outfielder Mike Carp was called back up after his rehab assignment this week, and just in time too.
The Mariners have been struggling to find a way to produce runs on a more consistent level, hopefully the return of Carp will do just that.
His first home run is a step in the right direction.
This called for some celebration I thought, so I decided to take a look at the video of his first home run of the year.
A first pitch breaking ball that was belted into the right field seats.
Since this was only a one pitch at-bat, there is nothing much to breakdown, but I’m gonna give it my best shot anyways.
The pitch
Nick Blackburn wanted to start Carp off with a nice and easy 75 mile an hour breaking ball on the inside part of the plate.
Carp was having none of it. He turned on the pitch, and sent it about twenty rows deep into the right field seats.
The M’s are in serious need of some power, and hopefully this was what they needed.
The much needed power of Carp sent the Mariners to an early 4-0 lead with no outs in the second inning during Sunday’s ball game.
The M’s went on to win the game 5-2.
