Matchup Insight O’s vs. M’s Game 2
Tough loss last night for the King Felix Hernandez led Mariners. The Baltimore Orioles are still hanging in there too. They may be losing touch with the Yankees but they are still in second place in the super tough AL East.
Baltimore Orioles (42-37) vs Seattle Mariners (35-47)
Wednesday July 4
Safeco Field – Seattle, WA
4:10PM
Moneyline: Seattle +120, Baltimore +-140
O/U: 7
PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Chris Tillman (NR) vs. Mariners RH Hector Noesi (2-10, 5.69)
Baltimore
If they are going to maintain that position they need to take games like this against weak teams like Seattle…alas they dropped the opener 6-3.
This team is probably desperate to get to the All-Star game in reasonable shape so they can take a breath and evaluate where they go next after acquiring slugger Jim Thome.
The O’s are taking a chance by bringing starter Chris Tillman back to the Majors. There is a reason he didn’t break camp with the club but hopefully they aren’t reminded of that against a very weak hitting Seattle club.
It’s not like he was tearing up AAA either, in fact it is a shock that Baltimore is still favoured in this one. Just goes to show how weak a team the Mariners are this season.

Hector Noesi has the 5th worst ERA in the Majors
Seattle
Seattle is hoping to continue its winning ways against Baltimore after taking the first game of the series Monday night. This team is .500 over its last 10 games which sadly qualifies as a bit of a hot streak.
Still at home, against one of the more awful starting pitchers of recent memory they are not even favoured.
That says a lot about the team and who they are throwing at the visiting O’s.
Among qualified leaders Hector Noesi has the 5th worst ERA in the Majors – and that is even with playing half his games in spacious Safeco Field.
The weird thing is that his WHIP is not nearly as bad so you might argue that he has been victim of some cluster luck (I just love that term ever since I first heard of it).
The challenge is when is he going to break free of it. Now? If so there is nice value there.
O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: Seattle 5 – Baltimore 3
