It’s Fun To Be Irrational
Its beginning to look a lot like spring. Well not literally I suppose. The trees are still bare, it gets dark early and the sun seems like a distant memory.
This off season saw a lot of changes to the American League Western division, with big names like Albert Pujols and Yu Darvish being added to the mix.
As the Mariners are on the brink of their season this is a time for fans to ate a deep breath before they plunge in to what the team will do and be this upcoming season.
This is the part of the post where it should be filled with the stats and logical arguments as to why the Mariners will be contenders this season.
Yeah I’m stumped…
So then, let’s see why sort of irrational arguments we can make to help us get throat the 2012 season.
1. Mike Carp
Mike Carp will make baseball history by breaking Joe Dimaggio’s 56 game hitting streak. As the streak comes close fans will fill the stadium and wins and losses will become meaningless as the focus turns on to the amazing feat accomplished by the young outfielder.
2. Danny Hultzen
Danny Hultzen will be so impressive in camp that he not only will make the team, but he will win the AL rookie of the year award.
3. Sublime Surprise
All the big names for the Angels will struggle with transitions and injury while the M’s sneak up the ladder and make it to a one game elimination for the AL West title with the Texas Rangers.
4. Ichiro and the *New* Bash Bro’s
Out of the lead off role Ichiro Suzuki will approach the game as the power house he is known for in batting practice. Ichiro, Justin Smoak and Jesus Montero will become bash brothers for this new generation and will hit for a combined 250 RBI and 150 home runs.
5. Behold The Champs!
Here is the most irrational thought of all but one every true fan and player should hold every season.
The Seattle Mariners will win the 2012 World Series.
Man I would love to see this list come true.
Let’s get irrational.
