Lions Twitter Reactions
Carolyn Smith is back with another Social Media report following the reaction post-game of the 2011 Western Final between the BC Lions and the Edmonton Eskimos.
Social Media Report
In 2011, history will repeat itself.
The Lions are heading to the Grey Cup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers next weekend after killing the Edmonton Eskimos 40-23 on home turf yesterday. Winnipeg and B.C. haven’t met in the finals since 1988 when the Bombers won by a point, 22-21 in Ottawa.
And like Barnes noted, the Lions also haven’t won a Grey Cup in Vancouver since 1994. Is it time?
Wally Buono is the only coach in the history of the CFL to bring his team this far after an 0-5 start, and next Sunday’s game may also be his last on the sidelines – he plans on continuing just as general manager for the Lions next season.
Wrapping up his coaching career with a Cup would only increase his merit for CFL Coach of the Year.
Buono tweets about once a month, and last night, he said – @Coach_Brillo: Many thanks to fans at today’s #BCLions game.
Your excitement was a big part of the win and we’re proud to be representing you this week.
Twitter was buzzing with Lions love before, during and after the game yesterday. Dante Marsh even Twit pic’d some sidelines perspective –
Good Times… t.co/JbsJxuJt
Angus Reid, who’s been with the Lions for his entire 11-year career, showed his excitement by re-tweeting fans and thanking them for their support.
Thanks to all our great fans who cheered us on to victory! We won the West TOGETHER!!! Now let’s go get the CUP!!
The excitement is building across B.C., with celebrations and the official Grey Cup Festival happening in Vancouver from November 24 through to game day. Although the team and fans are confident, Geroy Simon summed it up well after the game yesterday.
Thank you to the @BCLions fans you were great. Can’t wait to see the sea of Orange next week!
Be happy but not content, still work to do.
Oh by the way I’m @_CarolynSmith and I’m on Twitter.
