Empire Field was nice but the Lions never gained any of their dominating mojo while they were housed there.
So, after Sarah McLachlan sings the National Anthem, the B.C. Lions crowd will be amped to see their beloved Lions attempt to stretch their win streak to six games against an Edmonton team that has been as inconsistent as any team in the CFL.
Strangely, after a 1-6 start, the Lions with a win and a Calgary loss can pull into a first place tie in the Western Conference – who would have thought that?
Edmonton started the season on fire – 5-0 had them way ahead of the rest of the West. But this team has fallen on hard times and has had trouble sustaining any sort of winning streak ever since. Ricky Ray has been up and down but looks better with Fred Stamps back in the fold. The Edmonton offense is unspectacular as is the defense.
BC has looked tremendous on both sides of the ball during their five game win streak. They have outscored their opposition 167-47! Travis Lulay passed for 303 yards and two touchdowns last week in a dominant win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders and appears to be thriving with the thought of having Geroy Simon and Arland Bruce in the fold.
Offensively, the Lions look like the most dangerous team in the CFL!
Defensively, the Lions have stepped up their game and have become what most thought they would be – the best unit in the CFL. During the five game win streak, they have allowed an average of 9.4 points per game culminating in a superb game last week in which they gave up 5 points, 291 yards and forced 3 turnovers against the Riders.
Like the offense, BC’s defense is clicking on all cylinders at the moment.
BC will dominate on Friday night and make a statement that they are a decent bet to be back at BC Place for the Grey Cup later this year!
Pick: BC Lions -5 ½
