Lions (6-2) vs Alouettes (5-3)
Headline: Lions head to Montreal for a battle of the CFL best
A battle of streaking teams takes place on Friday night when the BC Lions, winners of four straight head East to take on the Montreal Alouettes, winners of three straight games. Both teams enter Friday having won in dramatic last-second fashion in their last games.

Montreal is 5-1 at home against BC in the last six games but BC has won all four of their games against Eastern Division foes this season so far – this is a battle of the CFL Heavyweights that has a chance to be the Game of the Year.
The Lions head into the first leg of the home-and-home series with the Alouettes obviously playing their best football of the season although they squeaked one out last week.
Perhaps the most impressive part of their close win last week was the fact that they prevailed not playing their best game.
Travis Lulay went just 16 for 26 for 220 yards and a touchdown while throwing two interceptions along the way.
The team was flagged for 11 penalties and the defense finally gave up an offensive score.
That said the Lions are the hottest team in the league. Consistency on both sides of the ball makes them an absolute nightmare to play against. Travis Lulay, Geroy Simon, Arland Bruce and Andrew Harris form a top-notch offensive attack and the BCs defense is by far the best in the CFL.
Simon somehow has not scored this season – something that will have to change going forward for the Lions.
The Montreal Alouettes may be lucky to be riding a three game win streak into Friday’s encounter. The team rode kicker Sean Whyte’s 12 points and last second field goal to the win against Hamilton last week. But the Als have been sensational on offense so far this year – they have amassed at least 400 yards in five straight games and leading receiver SJ Green is coming off a 10 catch 168 yard, one touchdown performance.
And then there is Anthony Calvillo – the most decorated signal caller ever in the CFL.
We know that Montreal’s offense has been clicking – it will certainly be an interesting matchup on Friday against BC’s uber-stingy defense! How Montreal’s below average defense holds up may just be the difference in this game.

This game should be close! These two teams are the elite of the CFL and both have something to prove.
Form Montreal, defending home-field advantage should be enough for them to come out with their best but added motivation comes in the form of a 43-1 loss at the hands of the Lions the Als suffered in their last meeting last year.
BC is tough but they have had their problems when travelling to Montreal just like most of the CFL. One streak comes to an end Friday – my guess is that it will be BC’s!
