"The 2012 schedule looks to be more balanced than last year's and should appeal to our fans as we usher in a new era of Cougar football," said WSU Director of Athletics Bill Moos. "With this schedule and the Cougars new style of play, I feel that newly renovated Martin Stadium could be filled to capacity on a consistent basis."

The Cougars open their 2012 schedule, and the debut of Cougar head coach Mike Leach, at BYU (Sept. 1), the first trip back to Provo for WSU since the 1990 season. WSU begins its home schedule the following week in a renovated Martin Stadium by hosting Eastern Washington (Sept. 8), the only home nonconference game on the 2012 slate.

The final game before conference play begins will be at UNLV (Sept. 15), the second of a two-game series with the Rebels which saw WSU post a 59-7 win in 2011.

The 2012 conference schedule opens with back-to-back home games against Colorado and Oregon. The Cougars will play Colorado Sept. 22 at Martin Stadium, which will also serve as Homecoming Weekend. The following week the Cougars move across the state to host defending Pac-12 champion Oregon in The Seattle Game, played at CenturyLink Field.

The Cougars move on to play three of its next four games on the road, starting at Oregon State (Oct. 6). A return to Martin Stadium to face California (Oct. 13) is followed by the lone bye week of the season. The Cougars travel to face Stanford (Oct. 27) and Utah (Nov. 3) in back-to-back road contests before returning to Pullman to host UCLA (Nov. 10) for the annual Dad's Weekend contest.

The final road game of the season will be at Arizona State (Nov. 17) before returning home to host Washington in the Apple Cup the Friday following Thanksgiving (Nov. 23).
