Of those players selected last season by the ‘Caps in the SuperDraft, only Omar Salgado and Michael Nanchoff remain on the club’s books, while Michael Boxall is also on the roster after being chosen in the Supplementary Draft.

Solid pick by Caps. He will help improve things for the team up front.

Zakuani, Nagbe, and now Mattocks complete the Akron/Cascadia connection. Should be fun to watch, especially if Zakuani gets back to form.

if Whitecaps use Mattocks in 4-3-3 -- look out.

Positionally, you've got to think the Caps would rather have had Wenger, but I don't think being excited to land Mattocks is spin...

“Darren has great pace and an ability to get behind the opposition,” said Whitecaps FC head coach Martin Rennie. “He has power, athleticism, and a good eye for the goal, which is always hard to find. He also brings a solid scoring record and we are extremely pleased we were able to select Darren.”
